I am planning on going on a gigantic week-long college visit trip. Basically, I am going to go up and down the east coast from North Carolina and see the Ivies, MIT, and Johns Hopkins. Does anyone know of other important colleges that I should put on my list? Also, does anyone know where I could map out my trip online?

It depends what you're looking for in a college. UNC-Chapel Hill, Davidson, UVa, William & Mary, there a lots of colleges in the east coast.

Sorry for not being precise. I am looking for a general list that I can weed through later. I am looking for upper tier colleges (Ivies to Awesome Publics like UNC-Chapel Hill).

besides prestige, what are you looking for? do you care about the size of school? urban vs rural? there is a HUGE difference between a school such as UNC and a school such as Williams. There are easily 30 schools that meet your criteria of upper tier and east coast

Be sure to check admissions websites for dates/times of tours/info sessions/interviews.

I am looking for schools that have a good Biology program. Of course, the list is still huge, but that rules out Williams and Davidson I think. I'm not really sure about school size as long as it isn't right in the middle of a huge city like NYU (Columbia is the exception...). Also, I want schools above North Carolina, so nothing in Florida or Georgia or anything like that. Sorry if that doesn't help too much! Ask more questions if you want!

Why one earth would desire for a strong bio rogram rule out Williams and Davidson any more than other schools? Size does not necessarily equate with quality. You might want to look at med school acceptance rates from those two schools. You surely will nto get any more "upper tier" than Williams!

I know they are upper tier, it's just that it's week long trip and I'm crossing them off the list. If I have about five days to see schools with two schools per day, I have to make some cuts. I'm just trying to gather what is the general opinion of the best Bio programs...

you shouldn't base your college list on a planned major.

What about size, location, competitiveness, how intellectual the school is.

In order to find the school that's right for you, you have to take all these into account. What if you decide to change your major in college? At some schools it's hard to change major because the credits you earned won't count, so you'll be wasting lots of time and money. You have to be aware of that.

Do you want a good study abroad program, research opportunities with professors, internship opportunities, independent study? Is tutoring a big deal? How much access will you have to the library, professors, and other resources? These are all important questions that are important in deciding where to apply, and then visit the schools that meet the most of your criteria.
