College work in high school

I was wondering whether or not Brown took into account community college coursework done as a high school student (pertaining to first year undergrad student). I searched the forum and this page ([Policies for Using pre-Brown College Work for Advanced Standing](<a href=“Advanced Standing | The Brown Degree”>Advanced Standing | The Brown Degree)) is pretty clear on their policy of not accepting any previous credits towards graduation; however, no where does it mention whether or not Brown uses the course taken for placement purposes. Though, another page does mention several courses that AP/IB credit will count for placement.

The reason I ask is because I have finished both Inorganic and Organic Chemistry (among other courses) from an accredited, degree-giving community college, and I really don’t feel like repeating all those years of work. I’m not asking for credits from those courses towards graduation at Brown, but I would like to start with Biochem or another subject, rather than start over. Any links/knowledge about this are greatly appreciated. :D

Each individual department determines placement regulations…so the math department would be willing to offer placement for such math courses. The chemistry department…I’m inclined to say they wouldn’t, but I believe you’d be best served by contacting them. My understanding is that those who have taken AP Chemistry take a course that is, essentially, AP Chemistry all over again, since no placement is given for that exam. I’m inclined to guess that they won’t give credit for 3 semesters beyond that, regardless of whether the course was actually comparable. Again, that’s just a guess, and you’d be best served asking the department itself.
