collegeboard & ACT fees waived?

Many universities will waive the application fee with an explanation of the need for financial aid. Will collegeboard waive their fees to have SAT test scores sent and will the ACT also waive fees in these circumstances?

If you are eligible for fee waivers as a US citizen/permanent resident you can get fee waivers. As part of your fee waiver, you will be able to send 4 free score reports. If you did not send your score reports at that time, you may have to pay to send additional score reports.

If you have allowed your scores to be sent to your high school, have your GC contact the colleges and ask if they can send a signed sealed copy of your scores from the high school to the colleges.

No. College Board and ACT have strict guidelines for fee waivers that do not include a mere statement of hardship/financial need. So, if you do not meet any of the specific listed criteria for College Board or ACT fee waivers, you will not be able to get one. The colleges themselves are more lenient, and will often grant fee waivers based on no more than a guidance counselor’s written statement of the student’s financial hardship.

But, as sybbie noted, many colleges will accept SAT/ACT score reports sent to them **by the student’s high school/b, so check with the colleges you’re applying to and see of that’s an acceptable alternative to paying SAT/ACT to send the reports.
