Collegeboard says less than 3,000 applicants under ED?

Number of early decision applications received: 2,679
Number admitted under early decision plan: 1,160

Is it supposed to be 3,679? This ^ means they accepted 43% whereas with the 3,679, it is 31%

No… on the NYU website they said they had a 5% in crease with like 3,160 this year or something. So those numbers may be wrong… but they had about 2,900 last year.

damn and i still wasnt accepted! : ]

ED’ers have a better chance of getting in than RD’ers, but by no means is it easy in either case.

I don’t doubt that EDers have a better chance, but Gallatin’s dean said otherwise during this fall’s open house…

they say that u do but i think its a gimmic. The percentage is still the same unless the make the standards higher for RDers but idk.

There are two reasons why it’s ‘easier’ to get in ED, whereas getting accepted RD.

1) In ED, they don’t have a “capoff” number where they can only admit a certain amount of applicants. I got this directly from the site. In RD, they only have a limited amount of spaces which they MUST follow.

2) ED obviously shows your passion for the university, and they want to see that.
