Collegedata.com accuracy?

I looked at the GPA-SAT graphs of Collegedata.com and am not sure whether they're true or not.

According to the site I have a pretty decent shot for at least the waitlist at some top colleges that I thought I had no chance of getting into(3.4 Weighted GPA, 2200 SAT).

Anybody got any knowledge on whether it's an accurate site or not? I have such a cynical view on my college prospects, so anything that looks like good news I take with a pound of salt.

the graphs are based on students logging into collegedata and reporting whether they got in or not, so I don’t think they are meaningful because you don’t know what % of applicants bothered to tell that website their results.
Look instead at the numbers provided by the college for average GPA, and 50% range of test scores.
The CC Supermatch tries to show you how close your stats match those of the schools you are in interested in.

Hmm, I really like the graphs though haha. They did give me hope for a second, but I guess they could be inaccurate cause some dirtbag could just say he was accepted into Harvard with his 2.5 GPA and 1800 SAT.

Usually when I check the numbers provided by the schools they don’t give me an accurate picture. Does anybody know a site that has reliable GPA-SAT accepted/denied/waitlisted graphs?

The only real **data **that is out there is what the colleges themselves report. You can see the details using the Common Data Set for each school, and these numbers get rolled up by all the college search sites.
But of course that doesn’t tell you everything because the more selective schools base their decisions on more than just the GPA, and test scores. So there is only so much you can predict. That’s why it is important to have a list that contains enough matches and safeties.

Oh, I just remembered one thing that can be of use. Does your school have Naviance? If so this will at least supply you with data about acceptances for students from your school at various colleges. Of course, that may be a small sample pool from a statistical standpoint but it should be accurate I think…
