I don't know why, but a few of my schools (mostly safety) have CALLED ME to tell me that I've been accepted and that I will be receiving my acceptance packet in the mail soon. What's up with that? Is that standard procedure? Notification isn't until April 1st or 15th for most, but they've been calling for weeks now...

Would you like a cookie or a small parade?

To chernbabychern: Umm...woohoo? Just thought you should know, Copernicus called; turns out you're not the center of the universe!

SillBill, yes it is standard procedure.

They call the thousands admitted everyday of the week, and it is not unusual to receive the same phone call a hundred times a week.

Maybe they were trying to figure out what Clam fart meant...haha

chernbaby...

My thoughts exactly. Ha! Completely conceited. (Also see "How I got a 2400" thread and about a million others...)

What's with all the sarcasm? Yes, it's not all that unusual. After all, they know that they're your safeties, so their best strategy to win you over is to accept you before your more competitive schools do, and begin wooing you. If the cute girl down the hall had started paying a little attention to you but was about to go to Fort Lauderdale for Spring Break, you'd be doing the same thing to her.

gadad...the sarcasm is due to the conceited nature of this post.

Every action we make has a motive, and to really gain an insight into a person's mind, it is best to look at the motives behind their actions, not the actions themselves. Unfortunately for SillBill, the motive behind this post (whether he knows it or not) was to proclaim his acceptance to the world. Ultimately, he wished to brag in a discreet fashion, to feel special. This motive further demonstrates his self-insecurity and his need to feel accepted by society. It shows dependency. It's sad and pathetic, although, probably unintentional. In the end, it's a simple testament to his youth.

In short, kid, the answer is yes this is standard procedure. You're not special (in this respect at least). Sorry.

I think it would be a legitimate question, actually. I didn't know that sometimes colleges call you to tell you you've been accepted. (none of my colleges have done that to me) Although if they had, I wouldn't have posted about it being confused, just been like, WOOHOO I GOT INTO COLLEGE. Anyway, I don't think it's a reason to be so rude to the OP.

lol. People never like the truth if it is rude.

This thread is kinda like asking a kid going to community college why the harvard admissions staff came to your house to announce you are the best student in the world.

ha, kindaslick. That doesn't really even make complete sense, but I like it.

@P_HP lol, I like your last post. BTW, I agree with you logic about the braggin threads, but I think OP might have really been confused; too hard to tell, but at least he didn't say I got a call from Harvard...

thanks, az. true to the Harvard call comment. I think the OP was just hoping we would validate his feelings that he was special. Oh well. No one wants to be everyone else.

erm, lol, OP, you should you able to figure out why they did that. apply those awesome reasoning skills. you're too good for their college, so they're courting you by calling you and giving you special attention. hopefully the other posters are right and you already knew that

lol. It's a courtesy for colleges to inform you earlier than other candidates.

Uh, just FYI, I wasn't saying that I was anything special. These colleges that called me are about a half a step up from community college, so trust me, it isn't impressive in the slightest. They're so bottom-of-the-barrel that I'd actually be embarrassed to tell my close friends that I was going there, so I'm not like "Oh, Cal Tech called me up and was like 'omg, ur sewper awesum!!!". I was simply wondering why colleges do that and if it was normal or not..... No need to get your panties in a bunch.
