Colleges Calling Your House

Does anyone else get random calls from colleges? A couple months ago some college I've never heard of called and asked for basic info and now "Saint Martins College" just called. It's kind of annoying because I really don't want to go to their college lol. I just told the lady that called me that I was busy and hung up. How do you guys deal with colleges calling?

Whenever there's a college that I don't like or any telemarketer in general calling me [as seen on caller i.d.], I answer in Arabic :] And continue the conversation in that fashion. They get the picture pretty quickly, and also take you off of their list, since they're usually anti-non-English speakers.

^ That is amazing. I will speak in Latin. They will think I am crazy.

No.
What's REALLY funny is that I've taken tons of Latin courses and have only self-taught myself conversational Arabic for a month or so, and am already [IMO] more fluent in Arabic. Of course I can't read or write it... but...

I think you'd do well to strike up the Latin conversation, it could easily sound more exotic than Arabic even. And keep in mind that you don't even have to be saying things that make sense in the conversation. Just say the coolest sounding **** you can think of.

Just read that Lorem ipsum thing for Microsoft Office.

I get tons of junk mail and the only people that have called me are the Air Force and University of Florida (high ASVAB score and I sent my APs to UF).

Weird that you posted about it, but today I got my first two college call too from "Harvard" and some other college. I don't know if the Harvard one is real... but with my grades and stuff I doubt Harvard really wants me.

They might have called before but I rarely answer the phone.

The Ivy Leagues send a bunch of junk mail, Harvard included. I have a really high PSAT score, but my GPA is horrible.

My dad said that Georgia Tech just called me today while I was gone. I guess they like the fact that I sent them SAT scores.

My parents still think it's "extraordinary" I get mail from Ivys. I keep telling them good test scores = indiscriminate junk mail barrage, but they won't buy it.

I got calls from some of the people I sent my either SAT or ACT scores from Ohio State and Washington University in St. Louis, just more information about colleges.

I get calls from the army. :(

I never answer the phone.

For this very reason.

I don't have a landline, so colleges used to call both my cell phone and my mom's. It gets old really fast. >:|

I got most of the calls in the fall of my senior year, so I started screening calls- if the number calling me didn't have a local area code, I just didn't pick up and let it go to voicemail.

^^ I would do that, except they call my home phone and not my cell.

I've gotten a couple. They always end up going something like:
"Are you looking at xxxx as one of your college choices?"
"No"
"Okay then" [They then hang up on me]

^haha

10char

I've never gotten a call. I'll consider that as a good thing.

Harvard, Yale and Princeton have called my house! Along with the President and the CIA. I know! What can I say, I am just your average over-achieving brown-noser. Take notes chicadys!

Harvard called the other day.... but i don't think it really means anything haha. it was the minority recruitment program trying to get me to apply and asking if i have questions blahblah. the junk mail ive gotten from every college...from the ivys to random ones in middle of no where to the marines.
