Colleges chances might been damaged for 2 grades

My overall grades aren’t great, but they are decent. However, I have some major factors that I am worried about that may hinder my college chances. My main options at the moment are Binghamton (SOM) and NYU.

GPA: 95.76 (weighted)
SAT: 780 math, 610 writing, 590 reading
I took the new SAT in october and I’m waiting on the score
SATIIs: 750 Math II, 670 Chemistry, 650 World History
APs: 3 Chemistry, 3 World History, 3 U.S. History, 1 Statistics
Regents: 59 on Physics

Obviously the key things I’m trying to point out are the 1 on the AP statistics and the 59 on the physics regents. Does anyone know how large a role they will play in my college admissions? And also, is there a way to only send certain AP scores? I’ve been reading around with some conflicting information. Thanks.

AP scores are self-reported. Don’t report that Stat score. @chalung

Talk to your guidance counselor and ask what goes on the transcript sent to colleges. Our HS doesn’t include regents scores on the transcript. In terms of AP scores, they are not requried for admission so no need to send them as part of your package.

AP tests are to see where you should be placed in college classes, not for admission. If you took an AP class senior year, you would have your results after you are accepted.

For the 59 on physics…does that affect if you get a Regents Diploma? Also only NY students take Regents test but you are probably competing against many NY students.

What is your potential major?

Thanks! I am planning to major in accounting or actuarial science. In terms of affecting my regents diploma, not really. Even with the failed regents I still somehow managed to snag an advanced regents diploma. Lucky me I guess.

getting into binghamton SOM is hard its very competitive you need pretty high scores to get it. if this where you want to go i would suggest applying early action so that if they defer you they will still look at you again in the spring. also not sure if you know this but at bing accounting is SOM and actuarial science is not. So when you apply and put your major in on the common app be careful which one you put as putting accounting means your applying to be in SOM and putting actuarial/math means you’re applying to Harpur.
