Colleges for a "Preppy/Surfer?"

ya denver has always interested me...

Good size pretty campus and an awesome town.
I just don't don't know if I could handle not being near the beach!

so basically what's the west coast version of a denver or even a less conservative smu?

You might want to take a look at University of Redlands, its a pretty small private school and its pretty close to the ocean/ beach. My friend just started there and he loves it. University of Redlands

cwaili -- Last I checked U of Redlands was about an HOUR from the beach... at least it looks like that on a map. I don't actually know anyone that lives that far east... it's practically a fourth of the way to Vegas!

edit... I just checked on Yahoo maps. It says Redlands is 1 hour, 17 minutes from what looks like the closest surf spot, Huntington Beach.... with no traffic!

UNC-Wilmington is at the beach, warm weather for a long surfing season ,more girls than guys and just an overall fun college town. All the kids I know who go to UNCW love it there.

Thanks for all the great suggestions...

I'm finally content with probably attending a school that isn't prestigious! I'm just looking for something that will make me really happy at this point!

All recommendations are encouraged!!

College of Charleston is a public university, not private. It's about 30 minutes from a "surfing beach," though just a few blocks from the intercoastal waterway. C of C is right in downtown Charleston and can be a terrific "party town," if that's your scene. It's highly respected in our area of the world, too.

College of Charleston is public but only like 10,000 right??

How about Coastal Carolina? A short drive to Myrtle Beach...no lax but they do have a surf club

here's kinda the list I'm working with right now

University of San Diego
Loyola Marymount
College of Charleston
University of Denver
Chapman
Miami
FSU

Point Loma College in San Diego has a Varsity Surf Team

Clubs and Societies PLNU Point Loma Nazarene University

Surf Team-The Surf Team is famous at Point Loma because it is the only Club or Intervarsity Sport to have won a national championship. Since Point Loma is surrounded by great surf, the Surf Team actively facilitates growth and camaraderie with surf competitions around Southern California. Everyone can find a place on the three teams, either in short or long board. So grab your board and let’s surf!

And the dorms are right next to the beach, the students can walk there with their surfboards. Photo of the dorms:

USD
Miami

Two good private schools in great beach cities.

where could my friends with like 2.6 uw gpas and 1300s (out of 16) with ecs along with sports get in?

There is no such thing as a "preppy surfer". If you call yourself that, you're pretending to be a surfer. Just because it's near a beach doesn't mean there are waves either. Doesn't matter though, you probably just want to go look cool in front of all the ladies, huh?

KOOK.

Truthhhhhhhhhhhhhh

look at Monmouth in New Jersey. It's right on the beach and very easy to get in to.

If you want information on University of Denver, my son is a sophomore there and really loves it. Very strong academics and a very good campus life too. He loves having both a strong campus culture with the advantages of being in a vibrant city.

I just say preppy because I want frats...

That has nothing to do with being 'preppy'...

psht ok then fratty...

suggestions please! I love you guys!

No waves in Florida...however Florida Gulf Coast University has its dorms right on the beach.

fgcu is a joke of a college I'm looking for a college that most people have heard of haha
