You might want to take a look at University of Redlands, its a pretty small private school and its pretty close to the ocean/ beach. My friend just started there and he loves it. [University of Redlands](http://www.redlands.edu/)

cwaili – Last I checked U of Redlands was about an HOUR from the beach… at least it looks like that on a map. I don’t actually know anyone that lives that far east… it’s practically a fourth of the way to Vegas!

edit… I just checked on Yahoo maps. It says Redlands is 1 hour, 17 minutes from what looks like the closest surf spot, Huntington Beach… with no traffic!

UNC-Wilmington is at the beach, warm weather for a long surfing season ,more girls than guys and just an overall fun college town. All the kids I know who go to UNCW love it there.

I’m finally content with probably attending a school that isn’t prestigious! I’m just looking for something that will make me really happy at this point!

College of Charleston is a public university, not private. It’s about 30 minutes from a “surfing beach,” though just a few blocks from the intercoastal waterway. C of C is right in downtown Charleston and can be a terrific “party town,” if that’s your scene. It’s highly respected in our area of the world, too.

There is no such thing as a “preppy surfer”. If you call yourself that, you’re pretending to be a surfer. Just because it’s near a beach doesn’t mean there are waves either. Doesn’t matter though, you probably just want to go look cool in front of all the ladies, huh?

look at Monmouth in New Jersey. It’s right on the beach and very easy to get in to.

If you want information on University of Denver, my son is a sophomore there and really loves it. Very strong academics and a very good campus life too. He loves having both a strong campus culture with the advantages of being in a vibrant city.
