What are some good schools where there are waves?

I want a school with a good greek life and a good music scene as well.

Thanks Alot, I have about a 3.6-3.7W GPA and a 2070 w/varsity lacrosse.

Obviously USC of course!

Oh, and we do some learning here too by the way ;)

Think I’d get in?

What do you think about UCSC or UCSB?

I wouldn’t know if you would get in or not, I’d need more information to chance you.

All other california schools suck, USC is obviously the best one, period!

Anyways, what are you planning to study? I can give you more information if you give me something to work with.

I’m thinking something like Journalism or maybe Advertisement, something where I can use my creativity.

I want a school that has a beautiful campus, in a sweet town with a good music scene (concerts), and nice looking girls around as well.

Pepperdine, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, and UCSB (NO DUH!).

East Coast: College of Charleston

Beautiful, historic campus with a lively arts and music scene, 30+% OOS, public LAC, nearly year round surfing at Folly Beach is 15 minutes away (okay, not California level surfing but adequate), Greek scene, Carolina girls, etc. I’m not sure about varsity lacrosse, though. Lacrosse is fairly new to this area, though becoming more popular and competitive. Most of the varsity lacrosse players we know go North to play in college. No surfing up there!

In Florida:

ERAU, Flagler College, UNF, and Jacksonville University are all relatively close to beaches with waves.

College of Charleston seems so awesome, but for some reason my Dad has heard it’s not a very good school…

I’m not saying I have to play lacrosse in college, I just mean as an EC in HS.

Any other Recs? (I like the Charleston suggestion taking Art and Music into account)

If you like the College of Charleston, you’d absolutely love UNCW. Wilmington is a great city with a thriving arts scene, and the guy:girl ratio is extremely favorable for guys.

add Cal Poly SLO to your list . . . great central california location, lots of waves to explore, and too far south for the Valley crowds and too far north for LA crowds

on the east cost look at URI; the Narragansett area is a verdant wave zoen, although a tad cold in the winter

Kei

P.S. Maui Community College :-)

University of Hawaii ;)

I couldn’t go as far away as Hawaii, my Mom would never let me hah.

California is pretty far from FL as it is, I don’t know how that would be…

Already mentioned, but Pepperdine definitely. Our mascot is Willy the Wave. Located on Pacific Coast Hwy in Malibu, the beach is literally across the street. You can see the ocean from most places on campus.
I’m a journalism major there, it’s one of the most popular majors. The program is great, very hands on. There are tons of internship opportunities 20 min away in L.A. The student newspaper, The Graphic, is award-winning. Advertising is in the same division, Communications.
The campus is among the most beautiful in the country, as are the girls ;]
Hollywood is 20 min. away, so there’s music scene a plenty.

Your stats much up too, I hope you consider it.

ya I’ve considered Pepperdine, but I’ve heard the gay population is massive and that it is also very strict and religious.

I’m not really sure if my parents would like to send me to UCSB, they think it is just a party school for some reason.

Huh…you’d think “massive gay population”, and “very strict and religious” wouldn’t go together…

And USC is the party school of the UCs!

The horror!

Besides, that’s less competition for you.

I second UNCW, it’s a great place with lots of surfers, and it’s near some great beaches. And the atmosphere is pretty chill.

A couple of surfing magazines/websites do this ranking. There are some obvious choices, but also some surprises. Rhode Island, who knew? I like how the surfline site talks about availability of surfing classes, both recreational and academic.

It’s not even that I don’t like gay people I’ve just heard that the majority of the boys there are actually gay, so it would be a kind of weird adaptation.

UNCW could be a possibility I guess I’m I think I’d probably prefer to go to Charleston if I was staying in that region.

Any surf from Elon?
