I was hoping some of you could suggest some good colleges for a Theatre Major that I would have a good chance of getting into.
I'm 17 and was homeschooled until I was 14 and enrolled at the local J.C., more for fun than anything else. Because I enrolled while I was still a highschool transcript student and I got straight As, my gpa just kept going up and now it's above 4.0 (I don't understand how this works, but it's what I've been told).
I'm taking the CHESP this month to officially graduate from highschool and in the next year and a half or so I'll be graduating with my AA in Theatre Arts. I want to move on to a four year to continue my theatre studies and I need someplace either near Los Angeles or San Francisco, as I've already begun my acting career and would like to keep it going instead of taking time off from it.
I've heard that taking the CHESP to graduate can hurt your chances of getting into a good college, but I have a ton of extracarricular activities and leadership programs under my belt as well as a really good gpa.

In or near LA: UCLA, USC, Loyola Marymount, UC Irvine, Chapman U, California Institute of the Arts - all have good theater departments.

Up near SF: San Francisco State and the University of San Francisco are worth a look (although I think the LA schools above are probably better choices).

And, don't overlook UC San Diego either. Great theater program.
