i want to double major in actuarial science and accounting. what colleges allow you to double major in these? is double majoring in actuarial science and accounting a bad idea?
It may be difficult because at most universities those majors will be in different colleges. Usually accounting is in the business school and actuarial science under arts and sciences.
my kiddo’s school had act sci in both business college and arts/sciences. He didn’t double major; but took act sci with lots of finance classes through the business college. He passed several actuary tests in college, got a great internship after junior year, and at age 23 is doing great in his job. As an actuary, he wishes he had taken more computer science classes.
thank you for your input! what college does your son go to?
Most actuarial science programs I have seen are Math degrees with a concentration. For example:

Majoring in both actuarial science and accounting is two full degrees from different colleges. I assume it could be done, but it would be a lot of work.
UW-Madison offers both in business school - presumably there are more examples.
my kiddo went to UNL (Nebraska - Lincoln).
here are two links. He had lots of job interviews throughout the midwest his senior year; that’s where he applied. Lots of options around the country though. He’s making good money now! we are super pleased he’s off the family pay-roll
