Colleges in Michigan with a good music scene and campus life?

Hi, I just joined the site today since it's helped me in the past by reading older threads. Anyway, right now I'm enrolled at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and I'm just not liking it. I'm a guitarist and have been wanting to start a band, or at least find people to play with, and having trouble since the music scene here is next to dead, and I would look for people to at least chill with, but there is next to no campus life (I live here even though it's mainly a commuter school).

I'm undecided with my major right now, and I'm planning on getting the heck outta here after my sophomore year (so I can get most gen-eds out of the way)

So yeah, are there any good schools in Michigan with a good music scene/campus life? I was thinking somewhere in maybe Grand Rapids, since it has a pretty active city life, but the area is no biggie, just no Upper Peninsula please.

Thanks

anyone? :(

I’ve heard that U Michigan has good music departments. It’s also a good school and I’ve only heard positive things about it.

I can’t get in to UMich lol, I don’t have the grades or the patience for the people there (no offense to anyone that goes there).

Anyone know if the music scene in Grand Rapids is as good as people make it out to be/?

What about Western? My daughter is there and while she’s not in fine arts, she says that there is great campus life, lots of fine arts/music students, and places to go and listen to bands.
