colleges in the west. (help)

I am trying to find a wonderful college in the western united states that has a musical theater program. i have read about some in colorado and in new mexico which is where i would most love to attend a college. but i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me or some personal experiences in that school.

please and thank you so much.

Welcome knot!

Toward the top of this page (but still in the thread listings) you will find a thread called the FAQ link and in parenthsis nest to it: (the Big List...) click on that and you will find a long list of schools that have MT programs and a symbol next to it denoting the selectivity level of the school plus a myriad of other information. When you've found schools in the area you want, go to the school's websites, read, read, read. Then come back here and do a search for past discussions of the schools of interest. This is the best way to start to reasearch schools on this forum. Then you will know what specific questions to ask of us here! Good Luck!

I'm missing something in trying to find the Big List; I must be looking in the wrong spot. I see the "FAQ" on the dark horizontal bar at the top of this page (beginning with "My Control Panel"), but I don't see any parenthesis (the Big List). Could someone please walk me through this! Thanks!

There is a thread above this thread named IMPORTANT: FAQ link. Click on that thread. In the first post on that thread, click on the link for frequently asked questions. It is highlighted in blue, I believe. On the left, you will find a link to The Big List.

Good luck

It is currently the 4th topic at the top of the Musical theater major page, and stuck there with one of those push pins -- I wonder if there is a way to move it permanently to the first position?

Oops - someone else already told you where to find it, while I was trying to figure out how to do the link.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I have never paid attention to those first threads on the list! I'm heading over there now (a little late since my D will be a freshman next year in a BFA program, but I'm still curious)! :)

thank you all soooooo much. i am heading over there now to look. i am only a junior in high school and i am already stressing myself about college haha. hopefully i figure it out.

knotcanary - hope you are able to find the information that you need! You had mentioned interest in schools in the West. Not sure if you mean the West coast - but some schools in California with MT degrees or concentrations are UC-Irvine, UCLA, Cal State Chico, Cal State Fullerton and Notre Dame de Namur. If there isn't information about these schools here on CC, go to their websites.

And junior year is not too early to be thinking about this! You will be preparing to audition in a year - so now is the time to figure out your list of schools. Good luck!

It's great that you are finding out about schools now as next year you will be very busy getting ready to audition. My D is also just starting her junior year this fall, but we went back east (we live in CA) this summer on vacation and to look at several of the colleges she is interested in.

My D has been spending her spare time this summer reading over the websites for programs she is interested in and getting as much information as possible into a spreadsheet that another parent on this site provided to us so that she will be able to compare schools.

In addition to schools already mentioned, the University of Arizona also has a MT degree. Good luck!

Oh, whoops - just saw that you were interested in Colorado and NM, not California - so check out the College of Santa Fe. I think there are also some posts here on CC about the MT program at the U of No. Colorado.

I have been impressed by University of Northern Colorado students in auditions.
