Possibly visiting Purdue with one child. My younger D might want to come along. Is there a small liberal arts college nearby that we could go see while my older D spends the day at Purdue? Looking for something that would be appropriate for a B student.

Nothing is super close, but look into:
Butler (Indianapolis)
DePauw (Greencastle)
Valparaiso (Valparaiso)
St. Mary’s of Notre Dame (South Bend)

All have good reputations.

Earlham (Richmond, IN - about 3 hours from Purdue)
Beloit (Beloit, WI - about 3.5 or 4 hours form Purdue)
Shimer (Chicago - about 1.5-2 hours from Purdue)

the closest college I can think of is probably St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer – about 45 minutes up the road from Purdue. Frankly, it has a pretty good academic reputation. A place where a B student could really blossom with individual attention. And it has a nice little campus. About 1,000 students, I think. However, it is located in a very small town in the middle of corn fields with West Lafayette being the closest “metropolitan” area.
