I was looking at Dickinson College, and I am a match with all of their stats except for my ACT score of a 22. While I'm sure I can get atleast a 25-26, I was wondering how much weight SATs/ACTs hold at colleges that don't require them. Also, why wouldnt they require them? If I can't get my scores any higher, should I still send them?

fairtest has a list of SAT optional schools. Keep in mind that some schools that are SAT optional may ask for SAT II's

http://www.fairtest.org/optinit.htm

Holy Cross and Bowdoin are 2 very good LAC's that don't require SATs. Holy Cross has more school spirit and better location-1 hour from Boston.

Bates College in Maine does not require the SAT and has a great reputation.

Sarah Lawrence doesn't require any.

Wheaton (Mass.) doesn't require SAT's either.

knox just dropped their requirement for SAT

pitzer (one of the claremonts) doesn't require them (although they ask for other stuff). many smaller LAC's don't require them and will take writing samples, math tests, ap scores, etc. instead
