Colleges that give evalutions insteads of grades

I'm looking for colleges that assess their students' work by means of narrative evaluations as opposed to traditional grades. I know of Hampshire and New College of Florida. Are there others?

Evergreen in Washington State may do this. You might want to check it out.

Sarah Lawrence College (well, they do have grades, but like Reed you receive the evaluations and have to request to see the grades)

St. John's, I think?

Bennington only gives grades if you request them.

like at Reed.

Brown students have the option of taking any or all classes pass-fail, and of requesting a written narrative evaluation in lieu of a grade. When D & I visited Brown they told us about a recent student who had elected to take every class in her four years there with a narrative evaluation. Her transcript was something like 140 pages long, if I recall correctly. They claim she got into Harvard Medical School.

^^

That's amazing. It would nice if a more colleges/universities did such a thing.

University of California, Santa Cruz.

^^

Really?! That's cool.

^they used to, but they give regular grades now
