Hi everyone,
I’m a rising senior who will be applying to schools in the fall. From the past two years, I’ve taken three AP exams and received a 5 on each of them (macroeconomics, psych, apush). I’m interested in submitting these AP exams as test scores (ex. so my resume looks better and not just to receive college credit). Do schools take AP exams as test scores? If so, is it explicitly stated on their websites? I’m particularly interested in Georgetown but can’t find any information saying they do or do not accept AP scores as test scores.
Thanks!
Some schools that are test flexible will consider AP scores in admissions. For example, at an info session for U Rochester last year, the admissions officer said students could send whatever test scores best reflected their strengths: ACT, SAT, AP, IB, or Subject Tests. Not all schools have this policy, so you’ll have to check each college’s website.
On the Common App, you can self-report AP scores. That is usually good enough, as colleges don’t really need to have an official report unless you are actually going there and getting credit.
Georgetown has its own app. I don’t know if there is a line on there to self-report AP scores, but if there isn’t you should find a way to let them know about yours. That might include sending them scores. It will only make a very small difference, probably, but certainly couldn’t hurt.
Colorado College is test flexible and if you choose that route they will consider scores from AP tests depending on the category. It looks your AP macro would work for category A and either APpsych or APUSH for category C. For category B you’ll still need an SAT or ACT Eng/read/writing score. I do believe they require an official AP score report if you are opting for test flexible. And you need to submit the entire ACT or SAT even if you are looking for them to consider just the English/reading/writing sub category. https://www.coloradocollege.edu/flexibletesting/
