Colleges with a Gay Scene

Hey all! I'm a transfering sophomore for Fall 2009 and I'm trying to decide where to transfer. I've applied to NYU, BU, Emerson College, and I'm doing a few more. I need suggestions on schools that have an active gay scene or the campus is gay-friendly. I am bisexual male and I just want a school with a decent gay scene. I'm also majoring in film

Anyone have any suggestions?

I think you’ve hit up all the big ones: NYU (where I go now) has the most vibrant gay scene I have ever seen, in a good way! Sounds like you’d fit in perfectly
Try Wesleyan or Vassar too. They are known to be very, very open minded schools with large LGBT communities and accepting student bodies.

UC Berkeley? Thats pretty close to San Francisco if memory serves me correct

Oxy is considered to have the most liberal students, and its in LA, which is a plus if you are a film major.

I love how the Harrington College of Design ad is on the side lol.

Anyway, you’re transferring out of Northwestern because you can’t find a gay scene there?

Heavens no! If I had got into Northwestern nothing would make me leave LOL! It’s a usernamed I picked before they declined me last year. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I’m really hoping for NYU!!!

Bard Wesleyan Reed Grinnell

I know that Emerson has a large gay population.

pepperdine

Berkeley if you can get into their program, SF State if you don’t mind a sleepy campus - but San Francisco is very gay friendly in general. NorCal is more liberal than SoCal IMO.

swarthmore? loyola chicago?

There is like one gay club and its once a month other than that you would need to join the gay frat which also seems very small. I have never really interacted with them and when I have they have been snobby. SF is amazing - but only if ur 21+

Have you tried Brigham Young or University of Texas?

if you were full-on gay we could be BFF.

UCLA? i lived in LA for three years and we literally LOVE everyone. and by everyone, i mean the gays.

Umm… Oberlin. Without a doubt.

UCLA is between Santa Monica and west Hollywood…gays everywhere!! I would say NYU and UCLA ;)

Eugene Lang College (part of the New School).

The vast majority of NYC, Chicago, LA, and SF schools would be gay-friendly.

i visited Penn. it is a good place too.
