ok i have bought the books, went to the websites, and asked mostly everyone i know... and most seem to say the same thing - little to nothing. please please let me know. Is there any gay friendly colleges out there??? im very frustrated and almost giveing up hope. PLease help!!

NYU definitely.

I know Vassar would be.

UCSC is, very.

Check "Gay Community Accepted" in Princeton Review's rankings. Most of them are located NYC or are liberal arts colleges.

This site may help too: http://content.gay.com/channels/home/college.html

They're mostly mid-level colleges though. Good but not breathtakingly prestigious. It'd help if we had a better idea of your grades-- whether you mean "Oh, Yale is very gay-friendly" or "blah blah state college"...

Brown, Wesleyan, Vassar, Grinnell, Macalester, Oberlin, Columbia, NYU.

Berkeley, actually most of the UCs are gay friendly.

1 Eugene Lang College
2 New York University
3 Sarah Lawrence College
4 New College of Florida
5 Brandeis University
6 Mount Holyoke College
7 Reed College
8 Hendrix College
9 Smith College
10 Bryn Mawr College
11 Bard College
12 Grinnell College
13 Barnard College
14 Simon's Rock College of Bard
15 Harvey Mudd College
16 Oberlin College
17 Emerson College
18 College of the Atlantic
19 Whitman College
20 Lawrence University

ranked from PR

You can also check to see if the climate is more democratic or republican... that would give you an idea if the student body/faculty tends to be more liberal-minded or conservative.

You can also go to each college's website (that you think might fit) and see their clubs and organizations... most (that I've looked into) have a gay/straight alliance or other related group... you could contact them via E-mail to see what the attitude is on campus.

some schools like george washington have scholarships spefically for gay/lesbian students

University of Miami

Tufts and Wesleyan.

Earlham, Reed, Lewis & Clark.

It seems to me that schools with a large performing/visual arts dept tend to be more gay friendly. Religious schools are not. Southern schools you do have to screen carefully. There is also a list of schools that PR has of schools that are specifically not friendly to those who are gay, or just not places where gay students may feel as comfortable.

Depends on what you want.

There are schools that are gay friendly and there are schools that are militatnt bastions of homosexuality.

What do you mean by "militatnt [sic] bastions of homosexuality"? What schools would those be?

Just for reference, does it make you feel special to formally cite a spelling error (like you learned how to do in 10th grade "research paper class"!) where someone obviously inverted two letters (Re: a typo) on an internet message board?

...because I've got bad news for you: it doesn't make you look smart, witty, or sophisticated.

I'll leave what it DOES make you look like unspoken, but it doesn't take an MLA handbook to figure out.

And Maize doesn't answer the question...

inquiring minds want to know!
but do you want to know because you want to apply or because you want to picket?
