Colleges with a strong research program.

Hello there! I've been nosing around CC for a few months or so now off and on as I've wanted to know various things but this is my first time posting.

I'm currently enrolled in a local community college as a biochemistry major, however, I'd really like to transfer to a university where I can hopefully get some research experience under my belt. Does anyone have any suggestions as to colleges around Florida that have strong undergraduate research programs?

So far I've gathered that a lot of the state universities have good research programs but I've never really been a fan of the larger universities like UF...

Are there alternatives? Perhaps a smaller school with smaller class sizes that still has a good program for undergrad biochem research?

Thanks in advance for the advice, guys! :)

Also, I would like to add that I am not necessarily opposed to transferring out of state if that would be preferable. As a matter of fact I didn’t even mention that I’m intending on going into a MSTP program after graduation. That would probably come in useful. ;)

There are private schools, though expensive and harder to get into, that offer strong science programs and have smaller class sizes.
