ok i've checked out boulder and it's beautiful, tons of skiing nearby, quite good academics (high SAT scores for a state college that I've heard little about). I'd be happy if I had to go there...obviously I don't intend to go to my main safety, but Boulder would work for me if that was all I got. I will be applying so thanks again for all the suggestions.

Hsmom: I'm from Texas...I dunno how many applicants they get from Texas...I'll be majoring in Economics.

Upstate Newyork in Ithaca and right near Cornell U.

Upstate Newyork = snow = slopes lol (I'm assuming there's a few...not anything like the giant mountain ranges further west, but if u want to stay in the east...)

middle 50% of people who submitted scores
SAT Reasoning Verbal: 540 - 640
SAT Reasoning Math: 540 - 640

ps. I'm not sure about the ski slope situation, but I know there is at least one because you can ski as a gym class at Cornell (I heard) so...must be lol

University of British Columbia - probably the best college to goto if you want to ski. Practically every kid has a season ticket at Whistler and skis every weekend. The skiing is truly phenomenal and you can ski well into June.

Well, there's a ski area 20 minutes away, but I don't know of any real skier who would call it "good". Great for families and after work skiing, but that's about it.

Definetly look at universities in western Canada. I live in Calgary, which is about an hour drive away from Banff and the rockies (sunshine, lake louise, etc. for skiing). There is a university here (University of Calgary), but unless you want to do business or engineering, I would suggest UBC. I'm going there next year. Vancouver is also hosting the 2010 winter olympics, so you can bet that they will be improving the winter sports facilities throughout your undergrad years.
