Hi, I am beginning to look at colleges and I have decided that an extremely important factor is location.
Does anyone know of decent colleges (ie avg 1750 SAT and 3.7ish gpa) near skiing? I am more than likely restricted to the North East area....anywhere from MD to NY...maybe Vermont... Thanks

What are you interested in majoring in and in which state do you live?

UVM comes to mind, as does St. Michael’s and Champlain colleges. Maybe consider some NH and upstate NY schools, too, such as Syracuse.

But if you love to ski , you should really look at CU Boulder, too. There’s a ski area about 20 some-odd miles out of town. (I live in the Boulder area, so I know it well.)

Another school out west near skiing is Northern Arizona University. I believe the OOS tuition is quite reasonable. And the Snowbowl is about 7 miles north of Flagstaff.

University of Colorado would be an obvious choice, and a great place to go to school, albeit, not in the Northeast.

Colorado College

Also SUNY Cortland and St. Anselms College (NH). Best of luck!

Most don’t think of coming south to ski but consider Appalachian State University in NC.
They get lots of snow and there are a lot of ski slopes nearby. Out of state tuition is reasonable compared to many other states. [Appalachian State University :: Boone, North Carolina](http://www.appstate.edu)

Obviously, SUNY Plattsburg… Whiteface, home of the Olympics

UVT, Burlington in the middle of every ski area

Middlebury is close to Fayston for MRG, Yeah… but its too much of a reach for you.

Hi thanks! I hope to major in history or english or international relations… I live in MD… I have family in upstate NY and southern CA, I hope to find a college relatively close to some family…so northeastern schools and (maybe, depending on price, some CA schools) are possibilities.

simple, find a resort you like, find the town and search google using the town’s name and the word “college”. There are a lot of schools near mountain high in LA, but I am not sure if you want to be there. I am sure there is nothing worthwhile near Mammoth.

Try Middlebury, good history, english and IR and you can skiing MRG all season. :)

Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH
