I know that when you apply to, for example, NYU, you apply to a particular college (CAS, Stern, etc.) If I get into CAS, can I then turn around and major in Finance? How easy is it to switch between colleges? Also, say I double major in Psychology and Finance. If I apply to CAS and get in, can I major in Finance at Stern too?

I'm not sure if that made any sense but yeah, if you can help, please try. Thanks.

There is no one answer to your question. Some schools allow students to double major or minor in two different colleges but others keep them very separate or allow only an elite group of honors types to cross from school to school. When admissions selectivity for one college is much higher than for another of the schools colleges, it is a pretty good bet that switching over or double majoring will be harder to arrange.

It really depends on the university. It seems like you have a varied interests...at NYU, CAS and Stern students cannot have majors in each other schools (though they can have minors), perhaps the proper NYU school for you would be Gallatin (individualized study school where you design your own major).

Penn has joint degree programs between Wharton and SAS....but you have apply to those as part of freshman admissions, and its not something you can decide later on.
