Collins Dorms

So I'm an incoming Apparel Merchandising major for the class of 2016. I applied for housing on the first day the application was available. I listed Collins as my first choice and requested a single. I did not, however, send any extra recommendations or portfolios to Collins as it was suggested on the application.
1. Will I probably get a single since I applied so early? If so, what building of Collins will it most likely be in?
2. Will my not sending additional materials affect my placement?
Thanks so much!

I think Collins is one dorm, not a cluster of dorms. And I believe it’s one large LLC (Living Learning Community) that you have to apply for. It probably isn’t too late to send in the brief application for Collins though. Read about the vibe there here and on the website and deride if it’s where you want to be. :)

My d lives in Collins this year. Collins actually has 3 parts. First, there is a main quad with 3 buildings (Edmondson, Cravens and Smith) that looks like a big, gothic structure. Second, there is a smaller group of buildings (Brown, Greene) that are about a block away. They are typical old traditional type dorms. Alot of people - even people who went to IU - have never heard of Brown and Greene. Finally, there is an apartment complex (Hillcrest) but only upperclassmen can live there.

I believe there are singles in all the dorms of Collins (Edmondson, Cravens, Smith, Brown and Greene) so you could end up in any of the dorms. None of the dorms in Collins are air-conditioned so be sure to take a fan with you in August.

My d never sent in any supplemental materials when she applied to Collins LLC.

Oh - I think I misread the OP’s post. I didn’t think he/she had filled out the application, which has about 4 small essay questions on it, and was suggesting he/she go ahead and fill it out. No idea about supplements beyond that…
