Columbia 2015 ED Applications

...have risen to a total of 3217 from last year's 2983, reflecting a 7.84% increase.

Now the question is, how many for RD? Guess we have another 5 months to find out. :D

Does the number of applicants rise this much every year? Or is it just this year in particular?

I think they rise every year, but because Columbia started using the Common App this year, it was more of a significant rise.

I would think that Common App would not affect ED that much, since a first choice is a first choice whether or not its on common app.

Only new people coming because of Common App are people who abuse ED for the sake of have a better chance at any random reach, rather than actually liking the school in particular.

Those people may have picked a different school in the past thinking “Columbia is a waste of time cause I can’t reuse the app for other schools”

But you don’t need to worry about these people cause they probably aren’t very strong candidates anyways. Otherwise, they’d be taking ED much more seriously.

I applied ED to Columbia. I think it was very smart of columbia accepting the CommonApp, it makes applying to the institution a bit more accessible. can you guys chance me?
