hey guys keep in mind tho that this is columbia’s first year doing common app, unlike upenn, so who knows, they might take a bit longer (i’m crossing my finger for 9th, like the rest of you, lol) cuz theres a partay that day, and i dont want to spend the whole party thinking about about decisions rather than hitting on hot girls.

also, any of ya read A is for Admissions? what are ya’s impressions on that if you have?

holy crap my last post just made me realize how much social events i missed out in oct/nov cuz of college apps and related stuff…dear columbia, please do the right thing and let me be able to enjoy my christmas? <3 you

haha i kinda agree with bioblade, no offense there. Heywhyhi,you seem pretty confident of yourself already lol seems more like your bragging than asking for advice.

im not judging tho so w/e congratz to your great accomplishments lol (kinda jealous of ur SAT score haha )

haha i know his “unmentioned hooks” he definitely mentioned the first time, but i mean heywhyhi, since you only have a 3.9 and were 30 points short of the perfect score, columbia doesn’t really like people that just can’t hit the target. Sorry buddy, its all perfection all the time.

People need to realize that the Ivy’s get a million students with high test scores and high grades. That’s what allows them to be considered in my opinion. Then it goes to the subjective part. Columbia isn’t going to accept a kid with a 35 over a kid with a 34 simply for the fact of test scores. You gotta factor in the subjective aspects… I really hope people realized that.

ahh, comeon guys, let’s not be jealous of his success if such success does exist.
and whyhihiasse whatever the hell your name is, either stop the whole false modesty act or get some swagger.

LOL after reading heywhyhi’s posts I feel SO much better. When I probably get rejected I can just think about how the people going to columbia are probably just a bunch of fake, stuck-up kids anyway. If you’re going to brag, at least own it.

@AndreaAcosta I read that you said your dad is from the D.R. and that makes you African American. That is actually false. My mother is Dominican, that makes me/you Latina.

Weeks after I applied to Columbia, I received an email about its research programs, opportunities, wonderful staff, etc., from a current student.
Does this mean anything regarding my application? I guess I slightly hope that it means I’ve been accepted??? unless they send them to everybody and i’m harboring false hope? :D

@Emeraldcollector
Being Hispanic/Latino(a) is not a race, but an ethnicity. One can be of Hispanic heritage and be of any race. What AndreaAcosta probably did on her application was check the Hispanic box, and then indicate her race as African-American.

I’m getting more scared everyday. I’m applying to seas and the more i think about the process, the more fearful I get. If I don’t get into places like Columbia, all the life’s great opportunities are going to slip by. I’m gonna be stuck in mediocrity, at least that’s what my parents tell me…

There’s a really popular but true quote, the college doesn’t matter as much as how you use it, even if you don’t get into columbia if you use your college to its potential i have no doubt you can escape mediocrity. @curry with dinner, i would be extremely skeptical of any e-mail you get that doesn’t mention you or something they want from you directly, don’t read to much into it, they’re probably just trying to be informative
