ED to SEAS

I want to retake my SATs and need to get in a Physics SAT IIs so I’m do RD to SEAS.

Hmm. Not sure if ED or RD, but I’m applying for sure. Columbia’s definitely one of my top choices…

early decision to CC. columbia has been my top choice for as long as i can remember.

the only thing that worries me is the early decision/financial aid repercussions.

@jsnoopy…if they do this like other schools do, the supplement will be on the comman app website.

ok thanks lizzy

ED to CC all the way. Not sure what im majoring in, but something liberal artsy (mabye philosophy). Im an IB kid so natural I have a huge boner for the core.

CC’ers could you help me out?

I am a Canadian and I need financial aid to attend a school like Columbia. After researching, I have been told by others that Columbia and Dartmouth are my best bets for getting sufficient FA if I apply ED. I was told that Cornell is the worst to internationals for ED and I know a lot of Canadians that got zero FA when they applied ED. I do not want to get robbed by a university so I have switched from looking into Cornell for ED and turned to Columbia and Dartmouth.

So, do any of you have any stats, word of mouth, etc. do back up the statement that Columbia and/or Dartmouth are safe choices for ED for a Canadian? I believe both of these schools are need blind for Canadians, but still, I need sufficient FA…I can pay about 25-30K a year, but the total cost of 45+K is too high.

I’m applying RD to SEAS. Either majoring in electrical or financial engineering.

I’m applying RD to SEAS too! Probably major in earth and environmental engineering but still undecided. I can’t believe we’re applying to college… that makes me feel old lol

Hey… I have a question…
Do we have a higher chance of getting in if we apply ED?

^ Yes; in fact, the ED acceptance rate is nearly double the RD one.

I’m applying to Columbia College for RD. Cos I want to see if I get accepted into unis in UK first

I’m applying ED to SEAS for Computer Science. Absolutely love the college and the core. Despite my engineering side, I’m a big fan of the humanities (800 on critical reading). I fear that my stats are in the bottom 25%, but with ED, I can get in. I’m really hoping for the best with this! Especially because when you’re applying to a school like Columbia, it’s hard to think of a “safety school.” I would say my safety is probably Carnegie Mellon.

@stereostaticxx Fellow CS major here also considering SEAS and CMU SCS… That being said, you should know that SEAS and SCS have comparable accept rates (14.42% to 15.26%) so you really shouldn’t consider CMU a safety unless you consider SEAS a safety too. (In which case, you should just EA MIT/Stanford).

@n00bmanEXE Good to know, I really wasn’t aware of that. 2015 hopefuls, what are you all considering for safety schools?

I want Columbia so bad I would give up my high school for it.

stuck between SEAS/Cornell for ED. Mechanical engineering!!

I just visited Columbia this morning. I’m most likely applying to Fu regular decision. I would like to say that admissions officer Rebecca Bromberg is an excellent speaker who really kept the audience engaged. If any of you are planning on visiting campus for the official info session and tour, I hope that you guys get her.

Applying RD.
