An underrepresented minority would, for most schools, be african american, latino/hispanic, and certain parts of asia (not east asia: korea, japan, china. nor india).

^^Don't forget Native Americans!

Alec Milton wrote to me I was missing some scores for my application is that good or do everybody gets notices from him?

Wow... this thread is like two years old.

When did he write to you? I got a notification that some parts of my application never got to Columbia at the very beginning of March. It was from the "Director of Operations," not Alec Milton. Not everyone gets notices about missing info... you'll only get them if you're missing info. Having them write to you about missing scores isn't good or bad, they're just telling you the facts: "We don't have this. Send it in."

And given that decisions will likely be mailed within a week or so, I would JUMP ON IT to get that stuff in. It means they still care, for good or for bad.

I know the whole prpuse of the messege is because im missing some info but my question was abot Alec Milton writing to me. Does alec milton writes to everybody is my questio

who knows? who cares? get the man what he asks for.

seriously, who can possibly speak to the experiences of "everyone"?

gett a lifeeee

Okay I’m a sophomore in high school and I already told myself I was going to Colombia lol. I am pretty smart (94.5 avg unweighted) and haven’t taken SATs or SATs II yet, but will take one of each this June. I a little worried with the SATs but a little more worried about my ECs. I read that ECs are very important and I’m a little nervous since I only basically started doing stuff this year. So far I’ve been in:

MIT InvenTeam (10)
Sophomore Class like student council but for only sophomores
Art Club (9,10)
Golf (9JV, 10 V)
Tennis (9, 10 JV)
NJHS (9)
Most likely NHS but won’t know till next week (10)
Will be in Garcia Center Lab for summer research (10)

Next year, along with the continuation all all of the past ecs except inventeam and njhs, I’m gonna be in:
Student Council
Habitat for Humanity
Junior Class
Science Olympiads

Are these ecs good enough for Colombia? I feel they are pretty weak since I see people doing much better ecs on here and for a longer time.

Get some more leadership roles, preferably in things you care about. And keep making good use of your summers. Show Columbia you care about something and you weren’t just a “EC hunter” where you did things solely because they were resume fillers.

And btw, you can’t take both an SAT and an SAT II in the same sitting.

Good luck.

Oops, thnx for the info. I guess I just take the world history SAT II than. For leadership roles, I am art director of inventeam and prime investigator of my research project. Hopefully I can get my leadership roles.
