<p>I'm new to CC.. but I saw people asking for their chances to certain schools so I decided to try it... I really appreciate all your feedback (criticisms, encouragements, constructive feedbacks), just you taking the time to read my ramblings and responding means a lot to me! </p>
<p>so here's how it goes: </p>
<p>I'm a rising senior at a public magnet ib school...
GPA: 3.94 weighted: 4.7
SAT: 2250 (first sitting) should I retake?
SAT II: biology 760, taking math II and lit in fall
PSAT: 224 (maybe NM scholar)
APs: 5s: Lit, Calc BC, Stat, Enviro, US history, US Gov, Microecon
4s: Macroecon, Euro, Spanish Lang, Bio
Taking 4 IB HLs, three other APs next year
Awards: national creative communication essay contest top 10 finalist, scholastic regional silver key winner, Agnes Scott book award, national AP scholar (I guess), county-wide poetry contest hon. mention, city-wide MLK human rights essay contest 2nd place, one world education essay contest finalist, other minor art and writing honors, three medals at state-wide Science Olympiad </p>
<p>ECs:
1). Chair of environmental club at our school, do our best to reduce energy consumption/waste by going around and turning off lights every Friday, recycling after sport games, received regional honors for environmental excellence, 600+ hours </p>
<p>2). 1st county-wide online student newspaper founder and editor in chief, wrote almost 70 original pieces in the first quarter, gave writing workshops </p>
<p>3). established non-profit organization to help immigrant students learn English more efficiently, paired up peer tutors based on language needs, helped students prepare for exams </p>
<p>4). teen-ink VIP/featured writer/published author, stage-of-life national blogging site high school editor </p>
<p>5). county-wide SGA vice president, MD youth advisory committee public awareness chair, former county youth advisory council facilitator</p>
<p>6). interned at a local, navy-based lab working on an independent research project for three years </p>
<p>hooks? (don't know if they actually are): first generation college, immigrant, low-income?</p>
<p>Please be honest with me, I've lived in an environment for half of my life where there was nothing but criticism. Thank you so much in advance for commenting. Columbia is my dream school since a child... probably because the name sounded queen-ish. ^.^ </p>
