@fizzing that depends on the decision itself… Knowing I’ll probably cry either way, I would hate to be in class and around all my friends/teachers… Maybe it would be nice to have the congratulations if I was accepted though. Also, if I received my decision preceding a test it would totally destroy my focus.
@fizzing right before I go onstage for a performance would be the absolute worst because if I was rejected I would be an emotional wreck AND if I was accepted I would be an emotional wreck. Essentially thursday is going to be a very emotional day no matter the outcome.
I honestly wish I wouldn’t have told so many of my friends and two of my teachers because now I really don’t want to have to tell them when I don’t get in :((
I’m. So. Scared.
I didn’t tell anyone besides my parents I applied at all so it will be emotional but I won’t have explaining to do X_X
@fizzing @BrynMawr61 At a family dinner with your extended family, all of whom are proud, vocal, donating Columbia alumni. Rumor has it, your second cousin Jason fell out of favor and was disowned because he got rejected and ended up attending the worst college known to man.
Is that worse?
How do you guys feel about it being on the tenth??? My decision comes out like 5 days before everyone else’s, and I’m scared that if I don’t get in, it will be the only decision people are talking about uuuuughghhhh
@dr0wning OMG I HOPE THAT ISNT YOU! I do not wish that on anyone!
I like it being early! I can’t imagine waiting five more days haha. Also I know other schools (Cornell) are also releasing ED stuff on the 10th, so you might not be the only one!! @madison808
@graceann Apparently Cornell ed comes out at 5 though.
@graceann I just learned that theres another kid whose school (Duke) releases the same day, so at least I wont be all alone! We’ve only got 55 kids in the grade, though, so theres basically no way to keep the results under wraps lol
Brown also comes out on the 10th!
@fizzing The worst place to find out that I got rejected would be on the campus.
@madison808 Wow my graduating class is around 600. I have a friend who has three results coming out on Thursday though. She did REA to Princeton. EA Georgetown, and ED Hopkins.
I told a few friends and my LOR-writing teachers already know because our Brag Sheet has a space for colleges that students are applying to. I really want to be able to tell them that I got in and thank them for their help.
@ro8271 Is this all one friend? How did she apply to all three schools? I thought if it was REA you can only apply to public schools early
@BrynMawr61 Oh that’s so smart that you didn’t tell anyone! I really don’t think I’ll get accepted, and telling everyone that is probably going to be the worst part of it all… But how did you not tell any teachers? I mean because you need some rec letters right?
do you guys think it will help me that one of my Recs was by a Columbia alumnus (my Calc teacher)?
I feel like it would if they knew he was an alumnus, but the Rec was written through the Common App so he didn’t make the letter Columbia-specific… I should have done that … ugh
@graceann Yup it’s one girl. Technically you’re not supposed to but her mentality was that they have no way of finding out so why not.
@BrynMawr61 not telling people was a good idea I wish I didn’t tell anyone haha
@valerieholland at my school all rec letters go through naviance, so teachers don’t know what schools the students are applying to (unless you tell them)
