@soph1112 My sister did that for Cornell (she applied ED there) and she had an alumni write her a Cornell-specific rec and to be honest, it didn’t make that much of a difference. She ended up getting differed.
Aw darn :// oh well
@BrynMawr61 LOL, that isn’t me but I wanted to exaggerate the scenario you wrote. No one in my family has gone to Columbia, but my brother was accepted! (I think full-ride?) I hope his luck extends to me…
I heard that all Ivies come out on the same day! Not sure, though.
@dr0wning They usually do. I know that Columbia comes out an hour later than some of the others, though.
LOOL in the RD thread the OP said this about us: “The guys over in the ED thread are going crazy with Dec 10 coming ever closer.” very true… how are you guys holding up? I’m trying to keep myself distracted, but every so often I will check my countdown app. And in the past few days, CC and I have been inseparable…
When decisions come out I’ll likely be in the car on the way to orchestra, repeatedly refreshing my email on my phone… lmao and I’ll be carpooling with a couple of other kids so they’ll be the first ones to see my reaction :))
I’m on holiday in Japan and I’ll be finding out in the airport… And weeping the entire way back :((
@demostheneslocke At least you’re on vacation! Try to enjoy it
@melonmelly I’ll have orchestra that day, too! What instrument do you play?
Btw I’m surprised that all of your class sizes are so small–my school has about 1200 people graduating this year!! (international student here)
OH MY GOD COLUMBIA SENT ME AN INDEX CARD IN THE MAIL AND I GOT SO SCARED BUT ALL THEY WANTED TO TELL ME WAS THAT THEY GOT MY MP1 GRADES
@dr0wning I play violin!!
I thought that my class (625) was medium sized, then after being told about 120 student classes, I thought my class size was huge. Now I guess 8’m back to thinking that it’s medium sized… it’s all relative! @demostheneslocke How much attention do you get from teachers and counselors? What country do you live in?
@melonmelly I play violin too!
Question: in the email they said decisions would be posted after 6, does anyone know if they go live at 6 sharp or just sometime after six?
Can barely focus on anything right now!!
Does anyone know anything about internal transfer from CC to SEAS if someone is accepted to CC?
@IAmLying I was actually wondering about that as well. Anyone know?
Also does anyone know how many in Class of 2019 applied ED and how many were accepted?
@IAmLying Via FAQ: If you are enrolled at either Columbia College or Engineering and you genuinely feel that you should attend the other, you may apply as an internal transfer student. Internal transfers must submit the Internal Transfer Application by March 1. The Internal Transfer Application is now available. There is no guarantee that you will be able to transfer to a different school. Undergraduate Admissions consults with the Center for Student Advising to review your academic performance and curriculum and determine if a change is appropriate.
Okay I found that last year, 3373 students applied ED. No news on how many of those were accepted
@soph1112 It doesn’t look like they release those numbers officially, but I have seen them for CO17 and CO11. Not sure how accurate they are.
@twix123 Thanks. Though, that sounds like it might be referring to people who have already been in CC for a semester or more, because the deadline is March 1, before RD get their decisions. What about ED freshmen who haven’t even set food in Columbia CC as students but already want to switch?
