My friend Andres said about 700, not sure where he got that number though. If so, that’s fairly good odds.
Out of all applicants, last year 36,000 applied and a little over 2000 were accepted… that is terrifying lol

@IAmLying If you already want to switch, I think you shouldn’t have applied to CC.
This is for last year’s Brown Early decisions, but it is very relevant for us.

Lol at the second tip:
“Don’t go on College Confidential”
@dr0wning True that . It’s just that I’ve done so much reading in the past month and a half that I doubt my decision already. Biomedical engineering sounds a lot more practical than biochemistry.-
@whiterwalt7 true, someone on CC told me that I should consider community college and all my friends were really shocked… they also know that CCers have a reputation for being really extreme, so one of my friends said, “you’re one of THOSE a-hole commenters?” LMAOO
I am so busy this week I jam packed my schedule for this week so I wouldn’t think about it too much but it’s not helping LOL
Well, Columbia said at their info session that they fill about 1/3 of their class through ED admits, so if there are 1,406 students in Columbia’s CO2019 (found that on their website), I would estimate about 469 were admitted through ED. This sounds a bit low to me, so I wonder if I misunderstood and they said about 1/3 of their ADMITTED students were admitted ED, in which case that would be 1/3 of 2,222 or about 740, which makes much more sense to me. I think I’ve heard that being discussed as approximately the number. There were 3,373 ED apps last year, so the ED acceptance rate was about 21.9%. Much better odds than RD, but likely due to the higher self-selecting applicant pool.
According to online guesstimates, Columbia tends to admit around 600-650 applicants ED.
But if you take into account athletic recruits/legacies/development cases, there are probably only around 400-500ish spots for the 3000 applicants.
I am so conflicted about legacies. Like on one hand it makes me sad that someone may get a spot that they otherwise wouldn’t get because they are a legacy…
But at the same time, if I were to get accepted to such a great school, I would be grateful that my kids would have a greater opportunity to go to the same institution. Looking at it that way, I guess it depends which side of the coin you are on lol
I need to stop analyzing the statistics of this and just chill lol
@soph1112 same here! UGH!
Like… decisions have already been made and no amount of analysis will change that!
I believe in us!! And no matter what Thursday brings, all of you will do great things!!
@soph1112 Legacy is great until your child does not want to go to your school and you’re forcing them to apply. Like I have double legacy at Cornell and my dad is kind of pissed off that I’m not applying ed there because I should be continuing the lineage.
@ro8271 Oh aw Yeah I bet pressure from parents doesn’t help. Just remember that you should be able to go to school wherever you want to!
@soph112 Thanks! Sorry didn’t mean to go all ranty on your post there. I’m just too salty about it for my own good.
@michigangirl2016 @allista I don’t know how accurate this is, but these stats are from CO17:

edit: this isn’t official. take it with a grain of salt, and don’t stress too much!
@ro8271 Are you applying to Cornell RD?
@dr0wning Yup. I’m procrastinating writing their supplement right now.
@ro8271 No worries!! Pressure from parents sucks haha, it’s okay
