I put two majors and undecided, so I just talked about the two majors. @bisi766
@whizkid98 thank you!
@bisi766 I sorta just talked why I chose engineering in general. Though while I never specified my specific major (ChemE), I specified on the type of work I wanted to do (Sustainable energy)
Hey guys,
I am international student from the UK and I sent off my application to Columbia a couple of weeks ago. I was just looking over my application today and to my dismay I discovered that I chose Statistics as my first intended major instead of PoliSci. I wrote about PoliSci in my extended writing because that’s what I thought I had chosen. Is there anything I can do to let them know about this error?
@sammyshell2 I’m sure you can email the admissions office, I don’t think that’s such a big deal
Wow guys. This application was horrible.
I hope my application is somewhat decent…but it is only my essays that could possibly ever get me accepted. But a girl can dream I guess. Good luck everybody!!!
I quoted Drake in one of my supplements. It seemed funny at the time but now I’m nervous. I wrote about an experience when I came back after a difficulty, and my closing sentence was:
In the words of Drake, “Started from the bottom now we here”.
I’m probably the only person who thinks I’m funny, so let’s all hope for the best because I’m clearly an idiot. Let’s pray that the admissions officers are young and hip.
@anon9363 If you think it matched the tone of your essay, I’d say youre fine. I personally made my essays serious, but thats because I didn’t have time to try and make it creative and what not. From what I hear, adcoms like when you do that because it shows personality – well if it makes sense atleast
Lol personally I’m incapable of writing an essay without putting some kind of joke in. It’s just who I am. I know I’ll probably be rejected because of my grades and stuff, but honestly if I made someone smile at least I was sort of successful
Oh wait I forgot about my Columbia Supplement
OMG I thought I was done… X_X
OH NO :))
good luck fam
For the writing supplement, when it says to list your favorite books and such, do you simply just list or talk about the books you like for a bit since you’re given 150 words? I’d like to know what you guys did
@RoadtotheIvies98 - Columbia says to just list them; don’t worry about using up all 150 words.
Those who’ve gained access to the portal already, where’s the checklist? I can’t find it.
@glasshours how long after submitting your app did you gain access to your portal? I know that Columbia says it takes a while for internal processing, but I’m sort of curious
@glasshours If I remember correctly, the portal said it wouldn’t be up until later this month? But that sounds a bit off to me because most colleges start looking at apps right away, so I’d double check what i said
@Spicykins - I just checked my CommonApp and email accounts. I submitted my CommonApp on the 24th and my writing supplement on the 27th; I received the email about the portal on the 29th.
I do remember that Columbia’s email arrived waaay later than emails from any of my other colleges, though.
@Zeppelin7 - I’ve already gained access to my portal, I just don’t see a checklist. Hmm. It says “if your Columbia ID does not appear on this page above within 10 days of submitting your application, please email…,” so I’m assuming that that should be up within the next week.
@glasshours
In the email that was sent, it said that we cannot check the app status until feb 8
@anon9362
Lol, i used a drake quote for my Stanford supplement. Lets hope they understand
Yes pls
