@thetsaria
Thanks! Congrats to you as well.
I made a results thread because I couldn’t find it - congrats to all acceptees.
Do you get LL? Whoever got accepted. Thx
Does anyone have news about financial aid yet? I don’t see anything in the portal.
@RoselandWeighing Got an LL, was named Kluge scholar.
Rejected~ whatever, didn’t expect any different!
congrats to all those who are selected
Waitlisted. Anyone knows what I should do to boost my chances of getting in?
I’ll give you a virtual cookie.
Do you guys know if Columbia sends physical admission letters via postal mail?
^same question for Penn
@richardshaw Ritual fire dance?
Kidding, kidding. Just know that it’s supposedly really unlikely to get in off the waitlist, I think they take like less than 10 kids.
You would probably want to write a letter to them restating your interest in Columbia and any new achievements/awards you’ve accomplished.
send email to your regional advisor at Columbia to show your continuing interest and consult with advisor in your high school. Good luck!
Son accepted!
I was waitlisted, how many do they usually take a year from the waitlist?
^ Waitlisted as well and wondering the same thing :-/
Waitlisted as well Trying to rack my brain for things i can add to my waitlist letter
Is it just me, or are there just tons of waitlists out there?
If so I don’t think I stand a chance.
Waitlisted >:)
Waitlisted
What did your waitlist letter say? @richardshaw
@NParker Do you see this too?
The Committee on Admissions, after careful review of your application to Columbia, has voted to postpone a final decision on your candidacy. Your name has been placed on a waitlist of students to be considered for admission should vacancies occur in the Class of 2020 later this spring.
With more than 36,000 candidates for the Class of 2020, this has been one of the most difficult selection processes in Columbia’s history, and the distinctions we must make among candidates can be fine ones indeed. In offering you a place on our waitlist, the committee acknowledges your many commendable achievements thus far and reaffirms that you could make valuable contributions to academic and extracurricular life on our campus.
We hope the information below addresses some of your questions and alleviates a bit of the uncertainty that a place on the waitlist brings:
Please respond to this waitlist offer as soon as possible and no later than May 2, 2016.
If your interest in Columbia remains very high, we strongly recommend that you submit a brief (one-page maximum) supplementary statement to ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu by May 2. We do not conduct interviews for students on the waitlist, and we advise against the submission of any additional recommendations.
If you do decide to remain on our waitlist, we strongly recommend that you reserve a place at another school by the common reply date of May 2.
If places in the class do become available, we typically notify candidates no earlier than May 15 and no later than July 1.
We do not rank our waitlist. If spaces become available, we will review the entire group.
As for all first-year students, candidates offered admission from the waitlist will receive any need-based financial aid for which they qualify, and campus housing for four years is guaranteed.
We would like to extend our best wishes and our sincere appreciation for your interest in Columbia.
Sincerely,
Jessica Marinaccio
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid
