Columbia College Chicago

Does anyone know anything about this school? The school website makes it sound great, but is it respected in getting students jobs? It seems perfect because it has a sports writing concentration, and thats what I want to do. Any info at all about Columbia College would be great! Thanks.

Funny, I just read a poster about CC at my daughter's HS today. I was surprised to learn how small it is--about 1000 students. Lots of the DJ's on Chicago's WXRT 93.1 went there, including Terry Hemmert--great radio station. Sorry, that's not much, but you said any info at all and I did get you bumped! :D

according to collegeboard, there are 10,000+ undergrads.

Like I said, I was surprised. Looks like the poster must have been for Columbia College, MO. My mistake.

A friend of my D's who plans to major in the visual arts is interested in Columbia College. That's about all I know of it. There is this, from the "About Us" page on the College's website:

"With more than 120 academic programs and nearly 11,000 students, Columbia College Chicago is the largest and most diverse private arts and media college in the nation. Because of our size, we can offer an unparalleled array of courses with exceptional technological resources in the heart of one of America's greatest cities.

The city is our laboratory. We live in 16 buildings that sit in the heart of Chicago's South Loop, home to the Chicago Symphony, the Art Institute, and the Museum Campus. (Chicago is also home to nine independent film festivals; 200 theatre groups and venues; more than 35 radio stations; and more than 25 magazines and newspapers.) Chicago inspires and instructs: Students gain real-world experience through internships and part-time jobs in the city."

Here is a link to an internship page on their site:

My sister's son has a friend who is a junior there in film. He likes it there, lives off-campus and takes the el to class. Always has a side job for spending money.
