May I know when Columbia call your school? I didn’t send my report and I an afraid it is too late now.
guys not receiving an interview doesnt mean ur out right?? also do u know if counselors get your results if theyre close with the admissiosn office?
@gracejackson010 According to their website, no, interviews don’t matter much becuase it all depends on your region and the interviewers available. You’re not out, don’t worry, i didn’t receive one either. No, legally, nobody gets your results but you and maybe your parents (depending on what you say on your Common App).
My guess is that given the rampant cheating scandals emerging from China, Columbia wants to ensure that they are interviewing the applicant, not a paid consultant.
What do you mean by “special interview program”? I don’t think there’s a special interview program for Chinese students in China.
@skieurope Oh so that’s what you mean. I guess you’re right. Still, even if students get high SAT/ACT scores on their own it wouldn’t mean they’d do well speaking in a college classroom. An interview would be really helpful in examining their conversing skills.
@JadeiteD True, I think interviews are important.
2 days, 7 hours, and 14 minutes until the decisive moment!
is there any way to know if we got in or not before we check the portal? ie an email about status being updated or something? ik for georgetown you can tell my the pricing of the stamp
This week is going on forever lollllll
@hopefulsenior109 Columbia doesn’t mail decisions and I don’t think they send an email (because my friends who applied to competitive colleges didn’t receive emails). But Com’on, who’s gonna forget about December 23th, 7pm?
Hey guys, I’m from the Harvard SCEA 2023 Forum!
Since both of our early decisions come out on the same day, I thought I’d share a post I made yesterday::
Just in case Dec. 13 doesn’t bode well for me, I can still get on with my life bc that’s also Taylor Swift’s birthday & I mean I can rock out to some iconic bops 'cause Harvard & I will probably never, ever get back together.
Like, ever.
('til medical school. Or graduate school.)
But I think we can all SHAKE IT OFF because we know ALL TOO WELL how DELICATE of a situation EAing to Harvard is. Even if we don’t get accepted, we just won’t go BACK TO DECEMBER and instead be FEARLESS and think about THE LUCKY ONE college that you will grace with your presence next fall. No matter where you are, it’ll feel like EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED and you’ll get to BEGIN AGAIN regardless of whether or not you’re wearing RED – er, Crimson. As for our current STATE OF GRACE, our current idea of “College Life” won’t last FOREVER AND ALWAYS; we must be open to CHANGE.
I can’t help but feel like I DID SOMETHING BAD here. :))
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk!
Wait I just realized I didn’t put my dual enrollment classes on my app ? do they matter?
Probably wouldn’t be a decisive factor in your admission.
Question: how are my chances affected if other people from my school are also applying ED to Columbia? Will they only take one of us?
@donaldduck22 they usually take one student from 1 school as far as I know (or none, in the case of my school) but it all comes down to you: whether you have a hook, whether you have a strong profile, etc.
Untrue. No college has a min/max/quota per HS. If the college wants both, they’ll take both. If they want neither, they take neither. Although if past history shows 1-2 people per year admitted to a particular college, you will not go wrong in assuming that 5 will not be admitted this year. And many of the top HS have more than one admit per year.
@La petite crise cardiaque lol trust me im not going to forget but i was wondering like if there is a way to have an idea whether or not i got in before i check the portal…like with georgetown before you open the envelope with the decision you can tell by the price of the stamp. ik columbia doesnt mail anything but any indication before i actually sign in?
@hopefulsenior109 Haha. Guess you’ll have to endure the suspense. Good luck!
