Oh, nevermind I fixed it. Thanks anyway!!

I don’t know why I decided to irrationally worry about this so late, but do you guys all have a sentence on your Columbia ED tracking page that says you must pay the $85 fee? I definitely paid already through the Common App so I was just wondering if that was just a general reminder for everyone.

@clicheusername Jk sorry yes mine does too

@clicheusername @astrokid On my portal it just says payment received…don’t really see a reminder anywhere

@yellowboy @astrokid ok thanks! mine doesn’t say that. I’ll probably email undergrad admissions then.

Yeah mine says “An $85 nonrefundable fee is required as part of your application to Columbia University.” It’s the first sentence of the third paragraph… I’m not really sure if that means they haven’t received my payment (which I def payed through common app), or if it’s just a general reminder, like @clicheusername suggested. Do other people have this, too?

I also payed through Common App, and my homepage shows the same message. Perhaps it’s just a standard note for all applicants who applied with the Common App as opposed to the Columbia app?

I had a fee waiver, and this shows "An $85 nonrefundable fee is required as part of your application to Columbia University. "

Hi guys I haven’t posted on here before but I also applied for Columbia ED. 8 days ahh

Ahh yeah i applied through the Columbia First-Year App

@tinyone how do you know that the notification date is dec. 11th? did they sent out an email?

@mellivine I happen to know that college advisors with students in the ED app pool were officially notified by Columbia that the 11th is the date.

(Not sure how it was worded though, I didn’t think to ask, i.e. it will be posted ON the 11th or posted BY the 11th.)

But yes, that date is official.

@mellivine I just found out by calling the admissions office. They confirmed that the date was the 11th.

I’ve been reading through various Columbia threads for a couple months (aka about a year and a half), but I decided to finally make an account and wish everyone good luck for next week! I’m personally a little dead inside from all the anxiety, but fingers crossed we all hear good news
Also wow 11 days I’m crying

Thanks @Jimkingwood and @naoman16 ! The date is so close! I hate investing emotion in things, especially in a school like Columbia, and I suppose hearing about the date kind of revived that. It’s going to be okay though!

Let’s try again. Pasting for more thoughts on the matter

I feel like I’ll feel really silly for asking really soon, but I just had to.

So I received a interview request this weekend and responded as quickly as possible. I just got word today that it’s tentatively set for Friday, which leads to the question: should I read into it? Going in, I didn’t think I had much of a shot. Reason being health problems, low SAT, average GPA etc. I thought I was a wild card for sure because of events out of my control and stellar essays but why gather information of a candidate less than a week before the decision? Would the university really put time into a kid they knew they would never select? Maybe it’s just optimistic me thinking I still have a shot? Hope please?

^^ Unfortunately, no one can answer your question(especially, your fellow applicants). If I were you, I would just choose to take it as a good sign and do your best. That’s really all you can do.

Are you having an interview THIS FRIDAY (tomorrow)? I would think that the admission committee would be wrapping up its final votes this Friday to prepare for the next week.

@MLBGM2032 from Columbia’s website: "However, because we have a finite number of alumni and current student volunteers to interview the many thousands of candidates, we are unable to grant interviews to all of our applicants and can provide absolutely no guarantee that an interview will be available in any given area. " and “Candidates who are not offered an interview are not at any disadvantage in the admissions process.”
So it looks like it truly is a random process; getting one doesn’t signify any strength or weakness to your application, you were just one of the lucky few in your area to be randomly chosen.

One week left!
