is it true that columbia doesnt look at writing scores?

thanks :)

From everything I've heard from Columbia, this is the last year that they will be looking at just CR and Math. I've already sent in the application, so I guess I should know whether they asked for my Writing score or not, but I forget.

Of course they look at writing. They looked at the old SAT II Writing. Nobody knows whether W is the same as M/V or treated as less important.

Your numbers are obviously OK, so it's going to come down to the other factors that you've provided almost no information about.

Columbia2002, I know it makes sense that they would look at the writing, but I've heard multiple times from Columbia admissions representatives that this is the last year that they will not be considering the writing section.

My advice to ckparkk is to email someone at the admissions office and find out what the deal is.

If they literally didn't look at it at all, they wouldn't ask you for it.

This is simply false. If this is the "last year," when was the first year? The answer is never. They've always looked at writing (SAT II WR or SAT I WR) and will continue to do so. As I said, the proper question is how they're weighing it.
