Columbia GS without gap year

I am currently a high school freshman and I am interested to apply to Columbia GS after 4 years without a gap year. I am also diagnosed with autism. What will be many chances for Columbia GS if I have good stats and test scores.

Zero. With some exceptions (for which very few people qualify), you are ineligible to apply to GS from HS

GS is for students who’ve been out of school for a while: worked a full time job for a few years, raised a child, were in the military. As a HS student, you’d apply to Columbia College (or Barnard, if you’re a girl).

I’m not sure what the background of the other posters on this discussion are, but I know from personal experience that there’s a girl in one of my classes in GS who’s 19 that transferred from another school. There’s also at least one person in GS now who is 17. If you have an interesting life story and transfer some credits, it is possible. You can even graduate high school early by taking a GED. That’s what I did. Just consult with one of the admissions officers at Columbia GS before applying. I’m sure they’d be happy to help you and would be able to advise you better than we could.

GS can be for transfers so that they get a lighter core (full core would be very difficult otherwise), the Columbia Sciences Po and the Columbia Trinity students, students with a GED and at least a year of work, etc. You can be traditional age but you can’t be a senior in HS when you apply. Being 17-19 isn’t the most common though.

I’m turning 20 soon, and I’m an incoming student at Columbia GS for Spring 2022. But I took 2 years break after high school to work at a few jobs. Unless you have some story to tell, good stats and test scores won’t help for GS. If you’re still in high school, aim for the traditional path into Columbia.

You have to apply for Columbia University through Columbia College or SEAS.

GS is for individuals who’ve had a gap in their education. You’re also much better off going to CC or SEAS since you’ll have a much better FinAid package.
