Columbia HEOP

Hey Guys,
I was hoping to be considered for Columbia’s HEOP program and I was wondering if there was anything I needed to do to be considered for the program. I looked on Columbia’s website but I was still unsure as to how people are selected for the program. I meet the financial requirement but I was wondering if there was anything else I needed to do.

Hey! I applied to Columbia with the hopes of being accepted through the HEOP Program. From what I’ve read in previous forums, just submit your CSS and FAFSA. Once they consider you to be academically qualified they will reach out to you asking for supplemental documents.

Btw what are your stats?

HEOP is quirky as you must also be educationally disadvantaged. So if you have high SAT scores, you won’t get it! Suggestion: look at the HEOP section on Barnard’s website. It tells you about the academic requirements. They are set by the HEOP program so apply to both colleges. I think the cut off is 580. You must get BELOW that.

Hi
what are my chances of getting into columbia or cornell heop?
Stats:
UW Gpa: 3.6 (in my school only like 2 ppl get a 4.0. I did not do well in freshman year coz of family issues but in soph and junior yr i did alot better. Also in context of my school the average accepted students for regular decision (not heop) into both columbia and cornell was a 93 and i have a 91.)
ACT: 31
SAT 2: US History: 720. Math Level 1: 700
2 APs (my school has very limited APs only 5)+ 4 Dual Enrollment Classes
Hooks: low income, First gen

*My ECs are not that impressive because I have many responsibilities at home so very little time for activities (family and financial hardships). I did volunteer like 500 hours though, debate team, did research with college professor and joined the Robotics team at a local community college, etc.

Note that it is your Critical Reasoning score on the SAT that is key. There is a cut off point where if you score ABOVE that, you will not be considered.

Hi guys,

do you guys know if heop students all get interviewed? What if I don’t receive an interview, is it possible to get in without it?

thanks
