Does anybody know anything about the HEOP program at Columbia University? Are there any current HEOP schoalrs? If so, what’re your stats?
I got admitted HEOP ED to Columbia recently. SATs-1320 GPA-4.0 and then there are a bunch of extracurriculars. let me know if u need anything more!
Hi @starlar6192 what was your extracurriculars and your common app on? If you don’t mind what is your rank and is your hs competitive?
I just got my interview and an email telling me I’m being considered for HEOP admission.
Stats:
GPA: 3.0 (strong upward trend 2.29 freshman to 4.44 senior)
ACT: 25 © with a 9 on the essay
Income: >$10k (4 people)
Intended Major: Economics-Philosophy
@TheWapTrap. Did you apply Regular Decision?
Yes. Only because I know that some colleges don’t offer HEOP for ED/EA admissions (Cornell, URochester, etc.)
^^^
I applied RD thru HEOP, someone I’m my school was offered an interview but I’m not so sure on how admission works… Do you have to receive an interview to be admitted to the school?
@alreadyadoctor It doesn’t count against you if you don’t have one. I had mine earlier this year but none of friends got one despite of them living across the street from me. The system seems a little arbitrary. However, if you’re gonna get one they have until early March to give you one. Stay patient, and good luck!
@TheWapTrap thanks! I’ll (try to) be patient haha
So If you don’t get an interview most likely you didn’t get accepted? Also did anyone get an email first requesting financial documents?
@Lynn26 The interview isnt requirent and is given based on the geographical closeness of an alumni. Also I did not get an email requesting financial documents. I sent an email to the admissions office and they told me that I was added to a list of people who expressed interest in the program. I’t not sure if I didn’t get the email because they already have my FAFSA and CSS profile but… hey
@alreadyadoctor how did you apply HEOP? The common app didn’t have that option for Columbia.
You’re automatically considered if eligible. Also, if you express interest they should let you know something.
@Lynn26 yeah you’re right, my mistake, but I did indicate I wanted to pursue financial aid, and then I received the financial documents (CSS Profile) email more than a month ago… I’m aiming for HEOP…
