Not an athlete, not a science person, no other great “hooks” as far as i can tell.

I got a likely letter. :)

People received likely emails today?

No. I got mine like two days ago. Still happy.

Yeah, I am DEFINITELY not a science person–in fact, I’m not even TAKING a science class this year–and I got a LL. I am not an athlete, or a legacy, or a URM either, nor do I have any other hook.

I know I’m being a little dumb, but could someone explain to me how exactly we find out? Is it on the Track Your Application site, or do they send you an email, or a letter?

they contact you if you are a “likely candidate.”

You will receive a letter in mail. It should have arrived by now. I think regular decision is online.

What’s the chance (%) you’d get in if you were deferred ED?

I’m an international asking for full aid with a terrrrrrrible SAT score though.

zomg.
I’m waiting… most likely for rejection, like the others have mentioned :)

@Whatevert In the letter they say its similar to RD, which is about 10%. So they’ll probably accept 65 people out of the 600 something that were deferred

so no likely by now probably means rejection to come?

Thanks good4college. 65/600? uh oh. why do they defer so many in that case? choice when you don’t find the same applicants in the RD pool? I’m just curious.

Also, I applied ED and got deferred. My friends who applied RD got interviews. Being called up for an interview is a big deal because my country is so small and we lack alums e.g. Harvard calls up 2 kids every year. Should I be worried that I was never interviewed?

i guess they deferred us to see if we are just as competitive in the rd pool. i dont think you should be worried if you don’t get an interview, they really don’t hold as much weight as you think.

I know that columbia decisions are going to be released online, but does this mean they will be emailed to us, or do we log onto something?

sorry for this stupid question, but I couldn’t find the information on the website just now.

Whatevert : My son received a likely letter and never got an interview call. So I think you should not worry about that specific aspect.

^^^ they will email us and give us a link, where we will log in to view our decision.

@llooppii- no. the whole point of likely letters is that they’re only sent to a small number of those applicants who are admitted.

Hey guys, I just wanted to clarify something. If you’re being considered for the HEOP (Higher Education Opportunity Program), do you know if your chances are relatively higher than they were before you were considered? I had an interview for the program where the interviewer asked about my financial condition as well as a follow-up student interview. Just wondering =)

P.S. I am not a URM, if that makes any difference.

“How to check your decision” emails are here!

^ Yeah, I thought I would’ve trained myself out of the moment’s excitement when I get an email titled “Your Columbia University Application” after refreshing my email for the fourth time today
