I wonder how many applicants there were this year - hopefully less or the same as last year. Last year 454 applied and 175 got an interview so a 38.5% rate for interviews. Of the 175 interviewed 115 were offered a spot so if you get an interview then there’s a 66% acceptance rate
@Kd6410 I was wondering the same, although I do think that the program is getting more well-known.
@dowzerw Your daughter received an invitation to have a second interview? I had never heard of the dual programs doing this before… I thought it was just one interview
@2018scholar My apologies. She is juggling interviews for a couple of different things and I got confused. She has not been invited for a Columbia/Sciences Po interview at all. Fingers crossed like everyone else.
and she was not invited for a second Berkeley/Sciences Po. I need to stay away from the keyboard.
@chss101 Nope not at all
@dowzerw I guess semi-finalist would be getting an interview. After that, you wait until march for the acceptance/rejection. I believe it was the day before Ivy Day last year. Also, I did not apply to the Berkley program, so it may be different
@Kd6410 hmm… well seeing that I fortunately was accepted it may be hard for me to speak on this. But i would say that maybe the students were not prepared to speak on a topic, didn’t carry the conversation well?? Having some confidence (even if you are scared to death) is very important. They want to hear a mature, well-spoken conversation. Fumbling over words is ok, but if you are completely lost I would consider that a weakness in your application process. And I really recommend researching and preparing a current event to speak about, that way you have an idea of how/what you want to say, and you are less likely to be nervous and lost at the interview. Also regarding your other point about acceptance rates, i remember at accepted students day they said that each year the number of applications increases, last year especially was a huge jump. But… if you get an interview that means you are very very close!! Good luck!
@juliakepcz Thank you so much for taking the time to share fact based experience with us. Much appreciated!
Hi, I was wondering if any french students on here or people who know any could answer something I’ve been wondering about: if you do the interview in Paris ( as I hope I will do soon, fingers crossed) do the interviewers switch between english and french or mostly stick to one language?
Anyone know how decisions were released? Email? Physical letter? Portal update?
Just heard from Berkeley/Sciences Po!
So did I! And they sent an email
was the offer from Berkley/Sciences Po or for Columbia/Sciences Po?
have columbia/sciences po interviews been released?
Offers were for Berkeley not Columbia
Maybe we should keep this thread to only Columbia/Sciences Po do avoid confusion (and since this is a Columbia thread)
D also got word of her acceptance to Berkeley/Sci Po today, too. Has not even had her Columbia/Sci Po interview yet.
Congrats to those who have had word. There is already a Berkeley/Sci Po thread with little activity so far. Please go over there to continue the conversation.
Thanks for clearing up the confusion!
Hoping decisions come tomorrow - they said early Feb so fingers crossed!
@Kd6410 Columbia/SP decisions? Are they due already? what about interviews?!
