Not to be a “debbie downer” but I had 800 on the SAT Math, 760 on English, 800 Math Subject II, 790 Physics Subject, 36 on all components of ACT, and enough College/AP credits to have an Associates already, plus I do XC, Swimming, and Tennis, Student organizations out the wazoo, and MIT didn’t even wait-list me. I’m not feeling so positive about Columbia at this point. Oh, yeah, and to all the folks asking about race and whether that holds you back: I’m a lower-middle class (95-100,000/year, family of 7) white boy. Who is graduating at 16, because I skipped a grade.
Say a little prayer for yourselves, then hope you get a yes from your backup plan!! (Thanks RPI!!)

I received a likely letter a few days ago. Beyond excited and overjoyed. Columbia is my dream school! Here is a very brief summary of my application. Hope this helps anyone!
Asian (no legacy)
SAT: 1500 770 Math 730 R/W
SATII: 750 on US History
GPA: 7/560ish
Majors: Art History & Visual arts
ECs: interned at a fine art consulting firm, volunteered at a museum, interned at that same museum later, lots of national and state art awards, different art classes etc etc a lot more stuff. Sent in my art portfolio.
Essays/supplements: very personal and honest. Lots of buzzwords about NYC. Emotional but ended on a positive note 
Recommendations: didn’t read but were probably fine! I absolutely adore my teachers.
Applied for financial aid
Hooks: interest in curating and museum education (application was very focused). Essay was where I was able to shine and stand out.
Courseload: 7 AP classes senior year
National Merit Semifinalist, National AP Scholar

also the columbia portal isnt working for me anymore - i think they disabled application tracking and registering for the college days now? but idk why they would do that so is anyone else having the same problem
