Columbia University ED Class of 2022

I feel that it maybe on Dec 15th, like in recent years. Like in the evening.

@bagelboy I like to think it’s because Columbia really does take time to look at applications holistically.

when are harvard/yale other ivies coming out? someone said on this thread that the dates were already set for other schools??

also did anyone apply to the engineering school?

@icepinky19 i applied to the engineering school!

Did anyone apply for Sustainable Development?

@icepinky19 so do I!

did anyone submit their first quarter grades to Columbia? if not, did anyone get requested to send their first quarter grades?

@wilddaisyy haven’t submitted mine, haven’t been asked

@kcasssuu but it hasn’t been on Dec 15 ever i think. recent years have seen the date fall around Dec 10-12 mainly

It’s december so it means we are really close to decision day… anyone know for sure what day they come out yet?

@icepinky19 Harvard is Dec 12, Yale is Dec 14, UPenn is Dec 8, and Cornell is Dec 7

@wilddaisyy I submitted mine just to be sure

@starry89 we all know as much as you do

I took a gap year before applying, so I had a few friends in my class apply to colombia last year. The decision date last year was Monday, December 12. I remember because we were rehearsing for our production of Les Mis, and my friend ran out of the room cackling because they got accepted. At any rate, I suspect Monday the 11th

hey guys-- joining the thread new here but I asked my counselor about the supposed letter that declared 14th as the decision date and she said she hasn’t received anything either. I’m also from socal so we’ve kinda been the last region in the process (for interviews and whatnot). Also is there a thread for ed accepted stats since questbridge results have already come out? i am very anxious bc of my rather low stats for this prestigious uni and wanted to see how it’s been playing out thus far!!

@calilurv There isn’t a thread for that since no one has been accepted through ED yet. QB results have been released and people have posted their results in the QB thread, but I haven’t seen anyone from Columbia on there (but they have it listed that 39 people got accepted through QB). If you’re looking for past years accepted ED threads, you can find those by looking up the “columbia early decision [20XX] college confidential” on google, depending on the year

it’s normal to be anxious about stats, but if you’re somewhat within range then you still have a chance. i’d say that if you’re close to their 25th percentile scores/GPA then you’re still in the running, but if you fall way below it then unfortunately it’ll be hard to look over

@1984ad ahhh interesting, thanks for all that info!! hopefully they weigh essays and ecs heavily too!! i’ve heard that the core is pretty flippin hard so i hope columbia thinks i can handle it aha :slight_smile: :stuck_out_tongue:

hey guys, check this out

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/columbia-university/1633644-columbia-ed-class-of-2019-p24.html

the class of 2019 didn’t officially know when decisions were coming out until Dec 8, and their decisions were released Dec 11 –– 3 days before! Their decisions were released on a Thursday, per usual, and they were notified when they would be released on a Monday afternoon/evening on the portal.

I think that if they plan to release decisions on Dec 7, then we should see an update on the portal later in the day tomorrow. If not, then it’s more likely that the decisions will come out Dec 11 or Dec 14 (which means we will be notified of the exact time probably on Friday or next Monday)

@calilurv they definitely do weigh ECs and essays heavily, but they also take hard looks at every other part of the app as well. even if you did amazing research and had awesome essays, columbia would still waver to accept you if you were a C or B- student or if your ACT was like a 28 or something. it might seem unfair, but the fact that they get thousands upon thousands of applications means that they can find someone with the essays/ECs AND the grades.

but, like i said, if you fall within their ranges then you are most likely fine in terms of scores

@2wilddaisyy Yes, my GC sent mine this week, but not because Columbia requested them.
