I need this decision so badly I hate waiting so long!! And I would prefer a straight up rejection over deferral because I think I have even less of a chance of being accepted RD unfortunately.
I’m praying for an email soon about when they’ll release decisions ahhh
@notlimah_hsirrap I relate to this so much. IB Diploma Candidate + STEM AP’s (as a intended polisci major)
My college counselor showed me a letter she got from Columbia (sent all the way to Europe) saying that decisions come out on Dec. 14th!
@meifangie was it an email or a letter?
now that we have two people who received this letter, i think we can safely assume that decisions come out Dec 14
it was a letter.
the infamous letter appears again… oh my god the 14th is too far away
@1984ad I agree that 12/14 seems to be the date. Also, 3 out of the last 5 years Columbia has released ED information on the 2nd Thursday of December. In one of the other instances, it was the 2nd Wednesday of December. The other was the 1st Thursday of December but that was 2012 for class of 2017 and perhaps the number of applicants was less and, therefore, more manageable. Keep on moving everyone and the day will be here before we know it.
Just got confirmation from my counselor that he also received a confirmation letter. December 14th!!!
I’m happy we finally know, but sad it’s still 10 days away
I’m going to ask my counselor today.
I go to a school where there are around 10 kids applying early to Columbia, and a lot of us have heard the 14th from our counselors.
I really want to know why some schools received the letter and some didn’t. A couple of people have guessed that it means someone in your school may have been accepted, but I’ve only seen it for schools with multiple applicants. There isn’t enough information for a verdict (most people who mentioned getting a letter in last year’s thread didn’t post if they were accepted or not). I’m getting REALLY anxious now.
One should not make that assumption A letter addressed to a GC is not addressed to you, so the GC is under no obligation to share that info with the students. Regardless, read nothing into it.
Here in NYC, my counselor didn’t hear anything about it… frustrating that it’s 10 days away from today…
I am the only one applying from my rather small school outside of the US, so I would also not put in too much thought into who receives the letters or who doesn’t. My counselor was quite confused though why it was a letter all the way to our school instead of a mail. She apparently received the letter a week ago
@skieurope Sound advice. Too much speculation will just feed the anxiety. Take a walk, breathe and remember though this is important to many of us, it is not the end of the world as we know it. The best part is the great support on this site from such wonderful people.
@meifangie I’m sure there is some logic to it but we may never know. Good luck to you.
Ah, nothing like the flu to leave you in bed with nothing to do except sleep and think about admissions! On a side note, has flu season hit for anyone else? Half my class is out, and it seems like it’s hitting the entire Saint Paul/Minneapolis metro area at the same time.
