Columbia University ED Class of 2022

@katewithak I live in DC metro area and our school has the same. I missed two days last week. I think I caught mine flying for the Thanksgiving weekend. Feel better and rest.

@katewithak I’m required to get a flu shot for the hospital I volunteer at and it hurts like hell to me bc I have the pain tolerance of a toddler, but I’ve never gotten sick around flu season! I hope you feel better!

December 14th, eh? I can’t live like this for another 10 days… Maybe I should watch a movie.

when do likely letters come out? is that a thing for ED?

@englishboiii likely letters are typically only given to athletes for the ED round, and even then i don’t think they always provide them

I told my parents that if I get accepted I’m going to get a print shop to print it as large as a billboard and I’ll duct tape it to the front of my house and surround it with Christmas lights.

have your CSS profiles been received? I submitted mine two days before the deadline and it did not arrive until now

@1984ad I know I read somewhere that you can request your letter to be sent to you after decisions are released. Edit: Oh on here https://www.quora.com/What-is-it-like-to-get-into-Columbia-University
the letter they sent this person about the date decisions are released, they say one can request a copy of the decision letter after it’s viewed online.

@meifangie My FASFA and CSS took like a week to be received, but OMG I submitted my IDOC stuff on the 10th and some of them haven’t been processed and they told me their system is broken yaaay

@AcademiaSavvy he was asking about likely letters, not decision letters

@1984ad Oh whoops I read it as when do letters likely come out :))

AcademiaSavvy, same with my stuff, my idoc stuff was submitted ~Nov 20 and it still hasn’t been processed.

what do you guys think their floor is for SAT/ACT scores? like, i know it’s holistic, but which scores will be used to start weeding people out?

@1984ad I don’t really think that there’s a floor. A 1200 might call into question your level of preparedness for Columbia whereas a score of 1350 could mean that you simply didn’t have the resources needed to study effectively. I think that you’re safe if you are within their range of accepted students.

Hey guys I need your opinions. So I got mostly B’s in my English classes through HS bc it’s my weakest subject, but I got a perfect score on the SAT essay. What do you think that says to the AOs? Does it make them think I didn’t try hard in my English classes or that they were just rlly difficult?

@AcademiaSavvy I think if your supplement essays were good they’d think they were just really difficult.

@AcademiaSavvy I think Bs in a certain subject is fine if it’s not your “thing.” Like Bs in English is fine if you’re a science kid. But don’t be that guy who has C’s in chemistry and suddenly wants to major in it lol

@RavensGirl I really do think they have somewhat of a floor. Their admitted students (not students who chose to go, but the ones they admitted) had an average of 1490 to 1580 on the SAT and a 33 to 35 on the ACT, meaning that about 75% of the class had over a 1500 or a 33+. I think it’ll be harder to gain admission if your scores are not 1450+

Hey Everyone. After decision, will you update us on if you were accepted or not? It will also be interesting if you share your test scores, class rank, region et cetera. Best of luck to you all!

@AcademiaSavvy I love it, best way to celebrate Christmas!

I’m assuming we’ll get the decisions at 6pm ET (5 pm for me!) on Dec 14. Not only is that my birthday, but I will also be in class with 45 minutes left to go! Yay!
