I cannot believe that this all is happening so soon! On the one hand, I really just want to get over with it, but on the other hand, I do not want to face a rejection and get my dreams crushed…
when you got an email from Columbia and found out it was about summer programs #stay strong
Hi guys, been lurking on this thread for a while so decided to make an account and say hello My guidance counselor just got a request for my 1st quarter grades, should I read into that or is it just protocol? Do you think most decisions have been made by this point? Thanks in advance!
@kitkat4023 I asked my counselor to send early last week but she didn’t mention a request. Unless it came after she sent them.
@GrusMinion She just got it today, so yeah probably
Hey!
Did anyone else had a problem with their CSS Profile? I contacted the Office of Financial Aid regarding it being “not received”, they said they have received it and will update it on the portal shortly. That was what they told me like, a week ago and it still hasn’t been updated. LOL! My chances of getting in are anyway so low and then, this.
By the way, on a completely different note, can we or can we not talk about our Common App Essays?
Hey everyone, I just made an account because i’ve been on this thread from time to time and just had to engage in it!
@columbianswift i think its fine to talk about essays if you want, but try not to give too much detail out or else someone might use your idea for the RD round lol
i just want to know if i got in or not… this week and next week are going to be so long :((
So are we concluding that decisions come out dec 14th?
@amu1900 until we receive the actual email from Columbia with the official decision release date, I think are assuming it is the 14th (based off of people’s GCs)
@amu1900 they appear to be sending out the email rather early compared to previous years (if what the AO said was true), which makes me think for a second that it might be Dec 11. However, there is much more evidence that points toward Dec 14, so I believe we’ve all agreed on that for now
hey guys so I’m kind of freaking out about the decision!!! My guidance counselor told me I have a good chance but I’m not convinced…I have a 4.0 and took AP bio soph year (my future major hopefully!!) and I was a Siemens semifinalist but I got an A- in gym :((( do you think it’ll hurt me?
also what day are decisions coming out?
@biolover0318 I can’t tell if you’re serious or not. No, an A- in gym won’t hurt you…
@rudeu5 but do you think I’m gonna get in? I also got a 1590 on SATs and an 800 on three subject tests but I don’t know if I have enough extracurriculars (I got 1st in debate and an captain of scioly and volunteer at a hospital but I don’t have leadership in MUN which is one of my main activities)
idk about y’all but I’m still holding out hope for December 11/12… I called and they said the email would be out “in the next few days” which makes me think that decisions would come out on Monday/Tuesday if we get an email at the end of this week.
But the applicant portal (which was supposed to close on Nov 30) is still up which could also mean that they need the extra time until Dec 14.
I just really really need to know. It kills me how not transparent Columbia is in their admissions process!
@biolover0318 There isn’t a strict set of circumstances, extracurriculars, or grades that can guarantee you admissions to any Ivy. It’s all a crapshoot with admissions, but honestly, if you have a passion and that passion is demonstrated through your EC’s, essay’s, classes you took, etc. then there’s definitely a shot. Admission isn’t solely based on a couple of EC’s and perfect grades
@mooseyellow I completely agree. Why can’t they just give a definitive date like the other Ivies, and mind you the other ivies also granted extensions on their deadlines
