Columbia

Wow. Using "gay" as a synonym for "lame"? Seriously, are you, like, the King of the Fifth Grade Class?

Post Script: Good luck everyone. And the countdown is officially at just over an hour.

^^english Is My Second Language
And I Really Thought That Post Was Gay

If English is your second language then you should have a dictionary definition of gay, not a colloquial one. All I'm saying is, no matter what the post, it's pretty hard for it to have a sexual orientation.

R E L A X

Uh...no. What you said is offensive and a poor use of an adjective. That "English is your second language" is a lame excuse. Or, as you would put it, a really gay excuse.

i agree. relax

Yeah I didn't know the word "Columbia" hasn't even appeared on this whole page.

Columbia, Columbia, Columbia! Anyhow, I think we all agree now that decisions are, in fact, coming out at 5:00 P.M. today, Eastern Time.

I think everyone is so anxious and stressed out that ppl started arguing on some linguistic issues. Honestly, aoibh, it happens quite often with the foreigners when they don't realize how strong this word is. And you should understand it especially if you're going to such a diverse and multucultural place as Columbia.
They're not doing that intentionally, they just don't understand the level of offence this word carries. Anyway, if you do speak a foreign language, you'll probably understand what I'm talking about.

I go to such a diverse and multicultural place as UC Berkeley and we certainly don't put up with that **** here. Also, I've never heard any of our international students use "gay" in that context or NOT know what it meant. I DO, however, know a lie when I hear it.

Post Script: Back on topic...remember how we're all, you know, applying to Columbia? Yeah, good luck with that!

I Didn't Say A Word

Good luck everyone! These last 20 minutes are going so slow...

Fifteen. They had better post at exactly 5:01...

ten more minutes

auibh, I didn't want to offend you or anything with my post, but there are the situations when foreigners HAVE NO IDEA how offencive it is in the United States of America and it doesn't mean that they're lying or their toefl score is not high enough, it's just a different culture. Anyway, I really didn't want to hurt your feeling or anything, good luck with Columbia!

Don't sweat it. I wasn't offended, I'm just nervous. Believe me, my post sounded so much more "I'm not offended" in my head. Good luck to you too!

yeah, honestly I'm not even nervous cause I'm already ready to read that" We are really sorry..." in 5 minutes, I should've applied to your school instead...anyway, too late now!Aoibh, let me know your decision,I'm pretty sure you'll get in!

I got in!

j/k

what is going on here???? I am like sooooo nervous?

This place has been my dream school for the last 10 years.....

wat is the chance of waitlisted candidates ?
